Johnathon Banks Now ranked no1 contender

Johnathon Banks moved to 19-0 14kos on Saturday weighing dead on the cruiserweight limit of 200lb he scored an impressive first round KO of Imamu Mayfield. He has moved another step closer to his goal of winning the cruiserweight title and eventually capturing a heavyweight title. Banks is now the number 1 contender for the WBO title and should be fighting for the title by the end of the year (hopefully in his next fight)
I managed to get this fight from WBVA in Swedish. I don’t understand why HBO did not show banks he is by far the best American cruiserweight/heavyweight prospect, he looks to be filling out as well he has weighed between 200-205lb in his last few fight and i think he could fight at heavyweight now. Hopefully if Haye wins against Enzo he will fight for the vacant title and then move up to heavyweight some time soon.

I thought banks looked good for the 1 min or so the fight lasted, yeah the opponent wasnt great but he could not have done any better i really think banks is america's best hope at a heavyweight title.

maybe, He has been sparring with wlad and sparred with lewis so is used to big men, but until he is actually in the ring with them its difficult to tell.

But most of the top are no bigger than himself - Chagaev, Povetkin, Ibragimov. How do you think he would do against Chagaev?

banks is a big boy with legit two handed power, plus he is a very humble hardoworking guy. he has said in interviews that he will move to heavyweight after winning the cruiserweight title.

i think he can carry 215-220 pounds. when he fought castillo they looked to be about equal in physical size and i believe castillo carried the same weight fairly well while fighting at heavy.

he ko castillo who was a solid heavyweight or though nothing special i would like to see him fight the top cruiserweights before saying he would beat any top heavyweight. The most interesting thing for me is if banks gets into a position to fight wlad as they have worked together but would Emanuel Steward train banks for that fight
