    Quintana's chin?

I just watched Cotto vs Quintana and how good is Quintana's chin? I mean he was taking some brutal shots, but he didn't want to come out for the next round at all.

So I was wondering, if he is getting hit cleanly and not throwing anything back, does that make him more likely to quit? Mayweather doesn't hit that hard, but I doubt Quintana could land those lefts he was blasting Paul Williams with against Mayweather. Mayweather would most likely be tagging him with huge right hand counters. I don't even want to know what Margarito would do with him (Though Quintana did look good in rounds 2 and 3 so he might be able to outbox Margarito).

If Mayweather were to stay in the pocket and slip a lot of his shots/blast away with counters I think we could have another Gatti-Mayweather on are hands if those two ever fought (which is highly unlikely).

So what's the deal here? Was he THAT hurt or was he more discouraged then hurt (I have no doubt that he was hurt. Those hooks to the face were brutal.)?

He can take good punches to the chin, it's his body that's a little weak.

Maybe. Though on the second knockdown Cotto throws a right hand, but just before it was going to land Quintana took a knee.

Cotto tried to land a left body shot before that, but it was partially blocked. It didn't look like it hit him right on the button, but he was able to move after that, so I doubt it.

Like said before, Good chin, bad body. Thats why I thought Quintana would be stopped because Cotto is the best body puncher in the game.

I think Quintana was doing fine till he took that brutal shot to the back (liver.) Not really sure why these types of punches are allowed, but anyway. I don't think his chin is bad at all, but after a huge punch to the liver, your body starts to shut down.

Agree with the above posters. Good chin but can't really take punches to the body. He took punches to the head well against Cotto and Williams.

Might have something to do with his conditioning, he was a bit out of breath against Williams but toughed it out unlike against Cotto when he simply quit.

Might have to do something with the fact that Cotto is a brutal body puncher as well.

But doesn't usually kick in and not let you get up?

I mean Castillo and De La Hoya both got tagged right on the button and seemed to not be able to get up at all. Quintana was able to move around and take more punishment after that though.

I think his body is decent, while his chin is good, but his heart is missing something.

It was the first knockdown that came from the body shot that made him quit.

Cotto's punch looked like a foul in my eyes.
