No he's not. It's actually really simple. Hatton wants a tune-up fight then he wants to fight at Madison Square Garden. The logical fight at MSG is against Malignaggi so that's what will happen. If Witter still has a belt they will probably fight in 2009.

Hatton wants to Fight at the Garden, fair play to him. Malignaggi gets spanked which then sets up an all-British unification fight against Witter at the New Wembley in 09.

Good things comes to those who wait.

I agree! He's also all about money this late on in his career, he'll earn more from malignaggi at the garden than fighting witter at this point.

This is exactly what makes sense.. He's been pretty clear this the direction he was taking. A tune up in Manchester so his hoemtown fans don't have to make odd hours to watch his fight. Then a big match against top tier JW beltholder. I would wager Witter will be in one of the following 2 fights after Mallinaggi.

well for me the 'logical' (ie the most money making) match for hatton at msg is cotto, not malinaggi. Personally i fully understand a tune-up fight, after what hatton went through against mayweather i would call him an idiot for not taking him an easier fight.

Ive always said that Cotto is a winnable fight for hatton, malinaggi is definitely the softer option (even if he does have some chance of outboxing hatton, i dont see it but it has been said).

If i was king of the world, hatton would get his lazcano walk-over and then fight cotto, but im not, so good luck to him.

Cotto is just about the most un-winnable fight for Hatton there is. Cotto would slice his face up, absolutely destroy him

I would like to see him fight Cotto but Hatton and his team clearly feel they are better equipped to do the damage at 140.

Hatton would edge Cotto at 140 IMO, reverse the tables if the fight was at 147.

Cotto absolutely couldnt make 140 again but would have stopped Hatton when he did campaign at 140 and would destroy him at 147, apart from Mayweather Cotto is way better than anyone Hatton has ever fought (at the time he fought them)
