By Cliff Rold - Like most fighters, most people, 37-year old former Middleweight titlist William Joppy (39-4-1, 30 KO) of Silver Springs, Maryland doesn’t want the end written for him. All but forgotten since a lopsided decision loss to then-future World Middleweight champion Jermain Taylor in December of 2004, this is likely Joppy’s last chance to delivery a more positive postmortem. well said... but the fact is: joppy is in the downhill. and i believe bute is too good for joppy to handle. -
I must say that I LIKE William Joppy. He has always seemed to me to be a really good-natured, modest guy. I still have an interview from before the Trinidad fight. He said that all he wants is to have a good career that people will remember him and his name will be mentioned with the other great champions. That's as near as I can remember it. he was coming out of the front door of his home, a very modest little house, and he showed no superior airs or graces, just a normal ordinary nice guy. I hope he wins, but the odds are against him.Comment

odds are against him is an understatement, i actually have bute winning in the last fight of a 6 fight parlay at -1800.I must say that I LIKE William Joppy. however, i regret that bet now and im gonna hedge my bet by throwing 50 bucks on joppy to win. 50 on joppy will pay 550 back, i really dont think he will do it but it would be a great story if he did.
the thing i dont like about it is that he has been in with extremely soft competition his last 4-5 fights. hes fighting a bigger man, who has been fighting tough fights. a lot of times when a guy takes a real soft route to a title shot like joppy has done in this instance it takes 4-5 rounds to adjust to the speed and skill of a championship caliber opponent. if he drops the first 5 rounds to bute he is done for, bute is too clever to get knocked out by a much smaller man if he knows the fight is in the bank.Comment
