A question about Hatton for the those in the UK

I'm apologize if there has been a thread like this before and I missed it but I'm curious about something. So Ricky Hatton is the man over there. Witter has been calling out Hatton forever and Hatton keeps shooting him down. If he keeps turning him down until he has no choice but to fight him and then loses, would you guys still regard him as the pride of England over there or would Witter take his place? I guess I'm asking does Hatton have a lot to lose in fighting Witter? What are your thoughts on that scenario?

If witter beats hatton now, everyone will say Hatton was ruined by PBF. Witter and Hatton before PBF would probably end in a Hatton KO, but Witter could upset Hatton if he was on his game. Fight has come at the wrong time for Witter, if it even comes at all.

Interesting question. I'm not the person to answer, but it's interesting.

I guess as those green teefs were still cheering him for losing to Floyd then he won't lose TOO much popularity. I also can't see Junior becoming popular. I like him, but it's just me and his mum.

I'll still be Hatton fan, I've already kind of "accepted." Witter has a very good chance of beating him.

Witter would never have the same following, we like the down to earth type of geezer/ underdog who isn't too ****y. Hatton is genuinely likeable, not sure the same could be said for Witter.

Hatton does have a lot to lose in my opinion. You can't have the number 1 lose to number 2.

British Boxing fans have never really liked Ricky Hatton, just like they never really liked Nigel Benn or Chris Eubank.

But non-boxing fans love him, just like non-boxing fans loved Benn and Eubank.

All British Boxing fans want him to fight Junior Witter (you couldn't find one who doesn't) and slate him for not. Just like British Boxing fans used to slate Benn and Eubank for not fighting Herol Graham.
