Who Wins This Dream Fight: JCC vs Pryor?

I dont think Ive ever heard anyone talk of this fight but who wins at 140 between Chavez & Pryor? Chavez had serious problems with pure boxers & movers but Pryor wasnt that. He would come right at you. Could a guy like that beat a prime Chavez?

I think this wouldve been a Fight of the Century type of match. It wouldve been like Hagler & Hearns but probally would go all 15 rounds. I love Pryor but I do think he was slightly overrated. Not overrated in terms of being a great fighter but in terms of being ATG. I think Im just a little biased though because I just dont trust guys who basically use No D and fight chin 1st. People always make it sound like he dominated Alexis in that 1st fight but then they admit that before the KO it was a pretty even fight and Alexis easily couldve been winning. I just think a well schooled all around fighter would beat a guy like that 9 times out of 10.

In this case though, is Chavez that type of fighter? I dont think so. He obviously has good skills but he also had no D at all and took shots to give them. Either way that spells a war that wouldve been great. Half of me thinks that Chavez wins because of the heavy blows he would land on Pryor who will be right in front of him the whole fight but then the other half of me thinks that although Pryor fights that way, he is still super fast/quick and so relentless that he would overmatch & overwhelm Chavez in a similar way that Hatton did Tszyu except there wouldnt be any holding & clinching in this fight

Both guys have better defenses than you stated in your original post. Pryor's defense is underrated, he slipped punches very well and was always throwing punches, Chavez was excellent at catching punches on his gloves and showed good head movement along the ropes.

I think if Pryor fought a disciplined fight, he'd beat Chavez, Pryor could box very, very well, he mainly just chose to come right at his opponents and overwhelm them. It'd be a great fight.

135 and below was Chavez dominant years. At 140, Pryor wins.

good, tough fight, but I think Pryor takes it.

Wow, people need to go back into the archives and check out Chavez and see what type of fighter he really was. Chavez had no D??? Are you serious? You can't have over 100 fight's and still be able to talk correctly and not have defense.

As the poster above stated, he was great at catching punches with his gloves and slipping punches with pure head movement. Pryor's D wasn't as good but he did have good boxing skills.

I think this is a taylor made fight for Chavez IMO, Pryor came right at you and was willing to brawl when the fight got down and dirty. I think Chavez' in fighting was much to good for Pryor to handle and I think it would have been a war of attrition, having Chavez out punishing Pryor in the fight.

Brutal contest with Chavez winning in the late rounds by tko or ko.

Pryor was knocked down and hit often by lesser fighters than Chavez...and Chavez was a surgeon when he fought. Pryor would be right there throwing tons of punches, and because he left himself open a bit Chavez would be able to land consistantly on him.

Not too many people are better than Chavez in that type of a fight.

even if Pryor boxed, Chavez was very good at cutting the ring off, as shown in a few of his fights...namely the Camacho one.

I think Chavez would stop Pryor...but he would end up getting hit with plenty of shots.

                Aaron Pryor HL

                JCC's greatest wins

This would've been a great fight and maybe we could've seen it had Pryor kept it together. Pryor would've been much older though.

Both had iron chin's, stamina for days and power through accumulation of punches.

Pryor may have the advantages in power and speed but JCC kept his composure more and picked his opponents apart with body punching.

JCC could sap Pryor's will with the body punches, he can stand up to Pryor's power but he would have great trouble dealing with the speed of Pryor.

Decision could go either way, I don't see this fight ending in a KO.

When talking mythical matchups it's right on the top of my list.

But I would go with Chavez....I think Julio is the best 140 pound fighter ever, I see a UD for Chavez and I also have him stopping Tszyu.

Pryor wins. I don't think that Chavez hit harder than Arguello. Pryor would fight Chavez straight up but he could also box and would hit harder than Meldrick Taylor. Both guys are tough sons of bitches but I say Pryor by split decision.
