"Titles Dont Make Fighters"....but in some cases..

"Titles dont make fighters" You know i hear that phrase a lot but then today Im reading well Wlad wanted to collect the titles and unify so it was okay to fight like that. No it wasnt okay because no fighter who fights like that is going to be thought of as the baddest man on the planet, which the heavy weight champ should be thought of as. Wlad can have all the titles but the way he fought last night was a disgrace to past champions and if he keeps it up he will be thought of that way, i mean even Emanual knew it was a joke.

And then Im reading, Wlad did what Floyd has done. NO, Floyd started at 130lbs so if he fights cautious against much bigger guys I can at least see the reasoning and strategy behind it. Wlad is one of the biggest guys in boxing, with arguably the strongest punch, so please do not compare that garbage last night to Floyds situation, especially when Wlad was fighting a much smaller guy who doesnt even have one punch knockout power...just my thoughts

Floyd has actually ran from smaller fighter too when he was at 130. And if floyd is at 147 or 154 then it is because he is a bigger fighter now and his heart shouldn't shrink.

I do aggree that Wlad should have fought better and harder. I didn't see the fight but it was bad from what i was reading.

The titles do make the fighter to a certain degree. It acknowleges fighters. Where do you think The Ring magazine gets the fighters to judge upon who ranks where in there rankings? From the Wbc, Wba and Ibf rankings.

He won the fight with one punch. Not many fighters can do that. When he let his hands go he nearly put Sultan out of the ring.

I won't defend what he did, it disappointed me. But it is the same thing Floyd does: take the surest, least risky path to the win.

That's nothing "disgraceful," it's just not the most entertaining way to fight

thats a bunch of bs. mayweather has fought every bit as cautious against conventional fighters his size and smaller. I cringe at the thought of how cautious mayweather would have fought an awkward southpaw with fast hands like sultan

Mayweather spent the majority of the Judah fight, a southpaw with very fast hands and good pop, coming forward.

ever hear of a guy named Zab Judah, who is one of the fastest fighters in the game? Floyd took a few rounds of getting beat, figured him out and broke him down, so you dont need to cringe at the thought, hes already shown what he would do.

Mayweather has great defense and is a counter puncher, thats his style. Wlad is a ko artist, and stood in the ring litterally trying to play patty-cake with Sultan by slapping his hand. HBO saw it, ESPN saw it, his trainer Manny saw it, I dont get how someone like you cant see it. You can still be a fan and admit he didnt fight well.

Boxing fans have a way of seeing a fight or two and thinking it defines them as fighters.

After Mayweather beat Baldomir, people were acting like that was routine for Mayweather and saying he was such a dull fighter, but his past few fights before that (Ndou, Corley, Bruseles, Gatti, Mitchell, Judah) and other fights before that (Chavez, Augustus, Manfredy, Gerena) were rather entertaining.

Wlad's last two fights have been dull (Sultan, Brewster 2), but his string of fights before that ended in crowd-pleasing KOs (Brock, Austin, Byrd 2) or beatdowns.
