  • Differences between Lewis and W. Klitschko?

Even before they mentioned it on the air, I noticed that those two really do fight a lot the same. Very jab dependent, very good defensively. Their chin is the only thing that has gotten them in trouble, etc.

    Can anyone tell me?

Granted, I haven't seen more than five fights of each, but so far, the blueprint of how they fight is pretty similar in my eyes.

As Lewis said on the air, he was more athletic and fluid than Wlad, he relaxed much more in the ring, Wlad can get robotic at times, Lewis also had a great uppercut and stepped in with the left hook more.

Lewis was more fluid and actually knew how to fight.

        There are definitely similarities.

Klitschko has a strong jab and can pretty much dominate fights with that alone, particularly against the small opponents. He also is considered a boring heavyweight by a lot of people for being a good boxer, which was the case a lot with Lewis.

I think Lewis was better. He was correct in saying he had more athletic ability and a better uppercut. He also beat better competition. Lewis is one of the Top 10 heavyweights of all-time IMO and Klitschko is not right now anywhere close to that.

I think emmanuel steward just use the Lewis blueprint on Wlad but Lewis was a bit more relax in the ring, Wlad fights like he is scared to get hit by anyone..He is too robotic in what he does.

lewis had that big uppercut but he didnt have much of a left hook at all. in fact I only recall him knocking one guy out with a hook,,and it was a long left hook against bruno. true,,he was calmer in the ring than wlad,,,sometimes too calm ( against rahman and mcall)

He used the left hook mainly to set up the right hand, one of his favorite combination was step in with the left hook and throw the right hand over the top, the most graphic result of that combo was in the second Rahman fight, but he knocked out or hurt quite a few guys with that combo.

I think a big question is when a guy is dominating a fight and has many rounds in the bag does he still try to close the show with a knockout?

Manny Steward certainly seemed to think so Saturday night in the Klitschko-Ibragimov fight.

Klitschko has good power, we've seen that in a lot of recent fights, but he's also smart and not going to sellout for the knockout when the fight is in hand. Lewis for the most part was that way.

I don't take anything away from a fighter for being that way but many fans and media members will.
