Throwing and not landing wont win you the fight.. Its not like Ibragimov was pressuring either.. Both guys just stood around hoping to land a Bomb..Comment

Iggy may have won 2-3 rounds at best.i had it 7 rounds for Sultan, he was aggressive early(he threw like 4 punches compared to wlads 1 punch)
Steward told Wlad he isn't gonna win a decision and has to Ko SUltan in the last round, I'm a huge fan of Wlad and i bet on him but no way in hell he won that fight
Just my opinion, do u agree/disagree?Comment

You are entitled to your own opinion but i think its not very logical to say sultan won the fight.i had it 7 rounds for Sultan, he was aggressive early(he threw like 4 punches compared to wlads 1 punch)

Wlad used that jab VERY VERY VERY well.
that was the story of the fight.
I would have liked to see him open up a little bit more and use more right hands and hooks but it was a VERY good strategy that worked for him.
I've seen more exciting fights (plenty more exciting fights) but the most interesting/exciting part of the fight was seeing wlad and company's strategy unfold. the strategy in itself was brilliant considering who his opponent was.
sultan is a counterpuncher (as wlad said in the post fight interview) and by using the jab only for most of the fight he took away much of sultan's chances to counterpunch due to the fact he didnt hand sultan many punches to counterpunch.
i also liked how wlad was knocking down's sultan's jab all night. it worked well; especially when he used it to follow up with a right hand later on.
the size difference is something that wlad used properly to his advantage. so many times i see very large framed fighters fight on the inside with short armed/smaller fighters and give up their advantage. wlad used it right. when sultan tried to rush and come in wlad would pop him with a jab and make him change his mind about trying to get inside on him.
it wasnt the most exciting fight we've all seen but it was very strategic and i will say i scored the fight 117-111 for wlad (9 rounds to 3 rounds).
However i cant see sultan winning 7 of those rounds...i see winning 3 rounds...but not four extra rounds in addition. it just isnt there.
sultan landed 12% of his jabs. wlad landed fourty something percent (i think it was 44%.
he outlanded and out hustled sultan and with a higher connect percentage.
i dont see how sultan won the fight. he was dominated in nearly every aspect you could logically use to score a fight.Last edited by frankpaganini; 02-24-2008, 12:18 AM.Comment
