    american HW's vs Russian HW's

I just want to know people'e opinions on whether the current crop of HW's from Eastern Europe would have competed with the best of the ATG's , the likes of the Foreman's, Liston's Ali's and the Tyson's.

Personally , I think the americans are in a league of their own.

Well you can't take one current crop and put them against a 100 year all star team.

It's an impossible question to answer.

While the ATGs were being badasses in the 70s, the Soviets and Cubans were forbidden from going pro.

Felix Savon - Cuban who won 3 gold medals in either the heavyweight or super heavyweight division (can't remember which one).

He never went pro because he couldn't.

Soviets are much the same way.

This may be the best batch of pro talent from Eastern Europe there have ever been in the heavyweight division, or this could be average for them. We will never know, because so many fighters didn't get their chance to turn pro.

But it is a shame that the best American HWs didn't fight in an open era.

Not even Wlad compares. He hasn't proven nothing more than he's easy to knock out. It doesn't take a beating all night long to finish him off. End of story, end of post. lol

Agreed, the world will never know if maybe, just maybe there was someone on the other side as good as these guys at the time.

Teofilo Stevenson and Felix Savon are two HW's who could've possibly done great as pro's.

The Soviet amateurs didn't have much success against the top American HW's in the Olympics.
