Yes he was good for boxing because of what he did in the 80's.

The 90's version of Tyson was just a desperate guy trying to sell tickets with his antics.

Bad for the sport as far as America is concerned. Too many people waiting for the next Mike Tyson are always gonna be disappointed.

Not to mention he has made the public perception fo boxers into one of "Idiotic maniacs"

thsi is true, 1 bad apple can spoil the bunch! its sad cause everyone thinks boxers are thugs and no goods like mike tyson. But the funny thing is There is more no goods and druggies in MMA then boxing. there is way more boxers then mma guys but yet so many mma guys use drugs, roids, and act wild and wreckless compared to the boxers.

I think it is casue many mma is white guys so its ok, like with eminem if he is white he all right.

The 80s Tyson was good for boxing, nice young kid who brought a lot of attention to boxing by knocking out everybody in his path.

The 90s Tyson was bad for boxing because the spotlight was on him and he made the sport of boxing look very bad by biting Holyfield's ear, trying to break Botha's arm, biting Lewis in the press conference etc.

His good most definitely out-weighted the bad and there is no arguement about that.

the world wouldn't be the same had crazy Iron Mike not walked through it and heck... even bit off a piece to chew

At times Tyson's disprespect for himself and for the sport made the public look at Boxing as a circus. He wasn't the best flagship spokesman.
