He wasn't so much OVERRATED... he was just too 1 dimensional.. he was very good at that dimension... His problem now.. after getting whooped.. is that he is trying to change what made him successful in the 1st place...
His style could be countered.. But not by most.. now he is trying to BOX.. and it makes him hesitant.. and goes against his instincts

Both, people were calling him the 168 pound Mike Tyson at that time and if that's not overrated, I don't know what is.

Calzaghe put on a masterful performance that night and must have really dealt a huge psychological blow to Lacy's confidence which I think he has never gotten back.

I think he was overrated just like most up and coming power punchers. Good power always get people over excited and it makes people also forget about the other skills it takes to suceed in boxing. Lacy had great power but ran into a better fighter with more skills and lost terribly.
Miranda equals the new Lacy right now.

Yes he was grossly overrated by many Americans, those thinking he would dominate Calzaghe.

he was sooooooooo overrated. Young guys like Lacy can take a beating like he did from Calzaghe and come out from it okay. I think he's the same fighter he was before Calzaghe, he's just not that good a fighter...

Overrated. Who had he beat? The Brits always try to hype up bums to make their fighters look good. There were even people saying Manfredo would be a threat. What a joke.

He has something, albeit a little one dimensional going forward. There are multiple factors to consider on the issue of the Calzaghe fight:

                a) The Psychological effect of getting beated so badly, especially as it seemed he and his team thought they had it all sewn up from the day the contract was signed

                b) The rotator cuff injury (pitcher's shoulder). This effectively nullified his left hook, his main weapon. I've had this injury, you can get get back to 80% in six weeks but the final 20% takes AGES. Added to this, is the worry of doing it again in practice, causing you to hold off using in subconciously.

                c) The actual physical beating taken that night. One thing Lacy showed us was that he wasn't short of courage, taking close to 400 punches out of 1000. Has this dulled him irreversably??

On the plus side, he is young and as I have said, there is nothing wrong with his heart or his chin.

My opinion, he needs two or three fights, avoiding Kessler for that period, then we'll know what he's got.

Lacy has never been the same since the fight with Calzaghe.

He looked shell-shocked after receiving hundreds of punches from Joe. The referee should have stopped the fight in the ninth round, it was cruel to allow the one-sided beating to go on and on...

He was always over rated and not only by Americans after all stay at home champion Calzaghe selected Lacy specifically because he wanted to fight the 'best'. Guess he and all of Wales believed one-dimensional Lacy was the 'best'. Though everyone now is quick to note he very obviously isn't and wasn't.
