  • The way for Cotto to get Floyd in the ring

It looks like the only way for Cotto to get Floyd in the ring is to get under his skin. It would have been great if Cotto would have showed up at the WWE thing, or if he started showing up at every event Floyd participated in. He wouldn't even have to talk smack, just show up with a disapproving look on his face and stand there. I imagine that would get on Floyd's nerves real quick. Hey if ya want a shot at the champ sometimes you just got to let him now how serious you are about wanting it. Imagine the press coverage for the fight if Cotto should up every where Floyd went. Floyd says that it makes no dollars so it makes no sense, well Cotto starts making surprise apperances and this fight will be on the tongues of the common public real quick. I'm not talking some WWE type appearance where they start fighting in the streets, but an appearance with possibly a little **** talking. Of course having to fight a pissed off Mayweather might not be the best thing to do but at least you get your shot at the champ.

Cotto would take the fight, but it's not something he's willing to chase after.
He's a star with or without Floyd.

It would be a shame if Cotto had to go to those lengths just in order to secure a fight with Floyd. Ricky Hatton never called Floyd out. All he did was say that his 4 rounds were more exciting than Floyds whole career. What did Baldomir, Gatti, Sharmbe, Bruseles, etc.. do in order to secure a fight with Floyd? I dont recall them having to go to extravagent lengths in order to get Floyd in the ring.

I just think it would be a good way to spark some public interest in the fight. I hate to say it but it works for MMA, and Wrestling. Although we hold boxing to a higher esteem, promotions go better when there is a little bit of (for lack of a better term) controversy. Cotto spontaneously showing up and Floyd flying off the handle would be the perfect way to start to build public interest in the fight (for the casual boxing fan).

The difference is Cotto has a chance to beat him, and Mayweather knows that. Same reason Tarver had to go through all that BS to get RJ to fight him. Jones saw something in Tarver and he ended up being right. Should have avoided him forever.

How do you know Mayweather knows that? You say that as if it is a fact.

The fight will happen when the time is right for them to make the biggest money on it. Isn't Mayweather on Golden Boy Promotions now? If so, how hard is it going to be to get anything done with DLH, Mayweather, and Arum negotiating money?

Why wouldn't he? If he's a professional, he studies film just like other fighters do, and how teams do in other sports. You think he just goes into every fight blind? He might say he does, but come on now. He studies the weaknesses on film, and he exploits them in the fight.

Like someone else said, Cotto "makes no cents" for him, but Gatti and Baldo did?
