Call it poor recruitment. We need another Ali or Mike Tyson to get young kids wanting to be like their idol and thinking boxing again. Now days that's absent, for the most part, so most kids idolize basketball or football players and naturally get into those sports.
Except for a few guys at the top, the HW division has been comparitively weak for the last 3 decades. I don't think it's that weak today, there are just too many belts. If there were only one belt, and only the #1 contender got a title shot, I think we would have some pretty decent HW title fights, even today.
Guys.. The heavYweight Divison.. has NEVER EVER been confused with the Welter Weight Divison..
The fighters have always been somewhat slow and lumbering with poor staminas..
Heavyweight Boxing is about KO's .. not finesse.. If you dont like heavy weight fights.. That's your choice.. But don't try and pretend you know what you are talking about when you dont..
And also because there's poor talent in the HW division and dull people no pun intended. Also alot of people feel some of them should be fighting in another category (higher one) as some of the fights feature guys with a 20+ pounds difference which makes it possible for you to win, even with just the most basic boxing skills (KO left jabs a la semmy schilt K1)

That's not true, Chagaev beat Valuev (about 100 pounds heavier) and Ibragimov defeated Briggs (about 50 pounds heavier).
i dont see the hw division is weak just because its not full of americans like in the past it doesnt mean its weak
there are some great unification matchups coming up like wlad vs sultan and peter vs maskaev u cant really complain
There's actually a lot of talented fighters at heavyweight - for example, Povetkin, Wlad, Sultan, Chagaev, Boytsov - but some people don't evaluate them fairly because their skin is the wrong color.
The division gets a bad rap for many reasons, but I definitely don’t think it is as weak as people say. Hopefully now that Klitschko is emerging as the dominant fighter in the division some of the criticism will go away.
