    Joe Calzaghe vs Robin Reid

    Who won in your opinion?

I just saw the fight and scored it for Reid, I didn't know Reid was that good of a fighter? but then again I haven't seen much of Reid apart from the Lacy, Calzaghe and Froch fights.

I think Reid absolutely deserved the decision in that fight but the judges didn't have it his way.

Well, Reid was a two time world champ and an olympic medallist, so he was pretty handy. The Blow didn't regard him and says he gave a crap performance in that fight (he was getting hit with the right all night, wasn't he?)

The Lacy and Froch fights were a shot Reid, but he was decent enough at the time, beating Ottke (yes he did) and getting a close loss to The Blow.

Because while he did good work and won some rounds quite impressively, I had The Blow still winning it personally, ISTR 115-113.

Robin Reid was robbed of a rematch. Why did he never get it?

If things had gone slightly different in the past (had the judges gone for him in close fights), Reid could have had the names of Joe Calzaghe and Sven Ottke on his resume.

Not sure about the Calzaghe fight but the Sven Ottke fight was a joke.

Reid priced himself out of a rematch. Calzaghe won by 2 ronds anyway.

... but then he would have just lost to Lacy anyway and these Fat Yanks would have gone "dat proov's dat dose euro f'ag's were over-rated, lamo, pwn!"

Rage, no public poll/option for a draw?

I hate draws, if you had to give it to one man then do so...calzaghe or reid.

it was a close fight but IMO Reid won it, I'll have to watch Reid's fight with Ottke. Some people say he should have arguably won against Ottke and Calzaghe. If he had what a resume it would have been

This question gets asked a lot, polls get made a lot and Calzaghe deservedly and rightly always wins.

The judges made the right decision. Reid was the home-town boy and he admitted that he lost. I believe that Calzaghe broke his hand during this fight. Dont add fuel to the fire of those who use this as an example of the UK coming up with poor decisions.

Ottke however, was a ****ing sham. One of the most furious I've ever been watching a boxing match. Not only was it the decision, but the lousy way that Reid (who I was always a fan of and even wanted to beat Calzaghe in the first place) was treated during the fight was disgraceful.

Calzaghe was arguable, Ottke was a clear as day robbery. Reid won the Ottke fight 117-110 on my card, 117-109 if the knockdown was scored properly, and 118-109 if he hadnt a point deducted. That pretty much sums up the Ottke fight. Sven went down from a powerful shot that landed flush, and the ref looks at the floor and wipes it with his foot, before claiming that Ottke slipped. Then when the ref decided that it may still not be enough for Ottke to win, he deducts a point from Reid without really giving any reason. As far as I could see, the only thing Reid did prior to the point deduction was have the audacity and the downright bloody cheek to punch Ottke in the face.

I scored the Calzaghe fight 115-113 in favour of Reid, BTW.
