    Handicapped boy needs uplifting

I have a 16 year old nephew who has contracted a rare neurological disease a few years ago. His condition has excluded him from taking part in normal teen activities including school for the past two years. He is very functional but has no energy, which keeps him laying down most of the time. His condition calls for supervision, which has been a strain on his parents. They have been juggling their work schedules to try and accommodate for his needs. I'll quit with the medical details, but on the bright side they are not life threatening, and doctors are somewhat optimistic on recovery, despite the absence of of a known treatment and medications are trial and error at this point.

With this said, Alex or "ax" as we call him, has pretty much been forgotten by most of his classmates and friends. There are a few who do make time to come and visit at times, but probably not enough to help keep, Ax's, spirits up. His parents and sister have been his main source for company since this all started. He is visited by extended families on occasion, but geography has prevented frequent visits. Being his uncle, I have had some time off this winter and make the 50 mile drive weekly to visit Alex, when he is feeling up to company.

Well, over the past couple of years, Ax, has developed into quite a boxing fan. And, boxing has been my favorite sport since I've been Ax's, age. So when we do get together, its all boxing! I tell him about all of the fighters from the 80's era to present. He just cant get enough. We pull up, youtube, on the computer, and I show him clips of some of the fighters I grew up with. Hearns, Hagler, Sugar Ray, Pazman, Boomboom, the list is endless. He writes down the names and bookmarks them on his computer so he can watch different clips on these fighters he has never heard of before. When I come and visit the next week, he will show me different clips he has found throughout the week. Of course, he is in tune with all of the fighter of the present era, and keeps tabs of all of them. So, the point I'm trying to get to in all of this is. He has a birthday coming up in a couple of months. I was thinking of how I could get a autographed picture of any current boxer to give to Alex. It could be any known fighter of any weight division. He has his favorite fighters like most of us, but I believe if he had personalized autograph of anyone, it would make his birthday. I just have no idea where to start to look to purchase such an item. If anyone here has any suggestions, I'm all ears. I do have a some time on my side, his birthday is in May. Thanks ahead of time.

You could maybe try writing to a few boxers somehow and explain the situation. Im sure they would all help you out in one way or another.

I would send email to his favorite fighters, or Ebay always has autographs of alot of different boxers.

I'd love to email any fighter, but I was under the assumption that their email adresses are not available. I'll dig around, thanks.

Where abouts are you from? Perhaps you could ask a local pro to give it to him personally. Many boxers would be more than happy to perform this for you free of charge, and it would be a great gift if you could take him to the fight and meet the fighter afterwards and he could sign something that already belongs to him. Fighters can usually be contacted through their official websites if they have one, if not try fansites. Had a little experience in trying to get a celebrities attention myself, more often than not the reply you will get is not from them, so dont take no for an answer, they will either ignore it or pass it on to the fighter.

Where abouts do you live and does he like any british fighters?
If you're in the U.K. I have many programs autographed on the night from Eubank,Benn,McCallum and Naz plus a few others and I have more than one copy of their autograph and I would gladly send you one of mine. No charge just a good will gesture to someone that would appreciate them and hopefully put a smile on the young lads face.
