It seems very likely that Cotto will stop Gomez. Most think he will stop him early, but what if he doesn't. Cotto has a lot of momentum and everyone is putting weight on his shoulders to be way above the rest of the pack. If this fight were to go to a decision or Cotto were to lose. How would that leave the Welterweight division? Would Mayweather then really not fight any welterweights? Any thoughts on the state of WW if Cotto doesn't annihilate Gomez..
Cotto/Gomez Decision?

Then you'll have a lot of people on here saying he sucks. Like when Williams lost. Especially from the Williams and Floyd fans they would have field days. But Cotto will destroy Gomez so all of this is just chatter. -
Why does Cotto need to "ANHILATE" Gomez? You say that as if Cotto hasnt already proved himself. He already beat Shane Mosley, Zab Judah, and Carlos Quintana. All three of them are top if not elite welterweights. Its not like Cotto is unproven. If it goes to a decision, and its close, good for Gomez. That says more about Gomez, because we already know what Cotto is capable of. Gomez has a lot of career momentum right now with wins over Gatti and Tackie, im sure hes training hard, and im sure we will see Gomez at his very best when he fights Cotto.
That being said, Cotto by middle-late round stoppage. But i dont not think he NEEDS A KO or anything like that. Hes already proven himself time and time again. Some people are just ridiculous.Comment

Gomez has never been stopped so my perception of Cotto won't change if it goes to a decision and Cotto wins, can't knock everyone out.
If he loses, it gives Mayweather another excuse to not fight a top welterweight and Cotto's stock would drop in my eyes.Comment

If Gomez beats Cotto, it will be one of the biggest upsets in recent boxing history. Gomez is a decent fighter, with good skills but he's no where near the class that Cotto is in.
This fight sort of reminds me of the Calzaghe vs Manfredo fight. One guy who has a lot of heart but is just outclassed.Comment
