both have different mindset when its comes to their inside game, for example:

Cotto has that killer instinct, pressures u with his attack...Cotto doesn't necessary make u back up unlike Hatton does..Cotto's punches (body shots in particular) make you wanna back up and when u do he follows...I can't see Floyd check hooking him like he did with Hatton...

Floyd on the other hand picks his shots on the inside, he times you & counters you using his defensive shoulder or forearm by pushing you off him that also ducks when he wants while looks to pot shot....Floyd would have to pot shot Cotto to a stoppage, can't see him knocking him out...

I'd go with Floyd because he could make Cotto's inside game look bad with his D...

This may sound crazy I'm a huge Cotto fan but I think PBF is a better very close fighter. Cotto needs just a little more room to do his best work. PBF's infighting (like when Hatton and DLH were too close and smothering themselves) is beautiful.

There is little room for punches until PBF wants to make room. He will then give a sholder pop or forearm slighth shove and then he'll land a very tight punch. Its like James Toney if your literally sholder to sholder with him you aint gonna land anything worth a damn but you bet that he'll sneak a very clean short shot in there from time to time.

Sam Peterson smartened up in his second fight against James Toney and took half a step back when James Toney went to the ropes. This allowed him to be a thousand times more effective. Hatton and DLH for all there flapping of arms when they had PBF on the ropes didn't do crap (just look at PBF's post fight face). If Cotto has the same distance it wont serve him well, but if he has patience and takes that Peterson half a step distance then he can do some good work inside.

I guess there's different perceptions of an "In-fighter".

A Mayweather fights in close using his defensive tactics and awareness........landing as an opportunist against the wilder fighter.

A Diaz goes in head first throwing crisp combos with excellent handspeed and keeps a rhythm easily wearing his guy down after rounds.

A Cotto does similar to Diaz...........but with more power and more offensive awareness (whole arsenal.........power hooks the works).

A Margarito through a combination of durability and offensive attrition makes the most formidable "In-fighter" because he spends 90% of his time throwing shortened versions of haymakers which would appear to be stifled/smothered.........but aren't. All he does is walk forward and trade punches, more specifically throw shortened ones with power.

OH really, I take it you haven't really taken a nutshot before. You see Hatton Flop on the floor out of breath when he was elbowed?

It was meant as a compliment. All the greats bend the rules.
