      Yup, definitely.

He'll be an exciting MMA fighter to watch as long as he stays away from Fedor.

remember what happened to mighty mo and ray sefo? both k-1 stars famous for their punching (at least when compared to the guys from their talent pool), and they couldn't get past c-d level boxers (mighty mo getting his jaw destroyed by some 40 year old who just boxed on the side). and i believe that sefo and mighty mo both punch MUCH harder and much better than kimbo can or ever will...but even they got embarassed.

you give kimbo a set of boxing gloves and place him under unified rules and he won't be able to accomplish jack ****. he would be a poor version of vinnie madalone with even less skill. the level of competition he's faced, and the utilization of 4 oz gloves just gives the illusion that this guy is a wrecking machine in terms of punching power. there's a reason his game plan was to take an old ray mercer to the ground (despite swearing he was gonna stand and slug it out), cus even his handlers knew it would have been a horrible idea to go toe-to-toe for too long.

in boxing, it takes a WHOLE LOT to be labeled as a hard puncher, so the ones worthy of being described as "heavy handed" or being "knockout artists" truly deserve it. flip the switch, and any wrestler with a total of 2 months of boxing training who just happens to toss a wild haymaker and land flush on an opponent of equal or even less boxing experience is easily labeled by naive, overacting commentators as a "devastating puncher". it's pretty hilarious to be honest with you. it's not a knock on them, it's just that when compared to boxing a guy can get by on a whole lot less punching power in mma to score some KO's, and practically anyone can pull it off...it's just the nature of that particular sport. in boxing, the guys who you see with loads of consecutive KO's are truly something special. a guy like chris byrd could probably put plenty of guys to sleep if you give him 4oz gloves due to the sharpness of his punches.

probably the most important reason why kimbo would fail miserably would be this....throughout the history of the sport, even the hardest punchers along the lines of shavers, foreman, liston, tyson, etc., have all had to go the distance sooner or later. they've all had to encounter opponents who could take their best shots, and give back in return. could kimbo do this? given the guys he was floored by in his internet fights, and the fact that he was whooped on his feet by a cop/part-time boxer in sean gannon leads me to believe that kimbo can only dish it out, but probably can't take it. and even if he could, there's no way that guy is gonna do it for more than a few rounds.

he is far more suited for mma, as his short, bursts of violence are more suited to the rule set, and it's much easier to finish a fight within a minute or two in mma than it is in boxing. there are plenty of club fighters who are of kimbo's cloth - wild swinging brawlers who look like body builders thal burn out and fold if they can't finish it early - he isn't unique at all. boxing has far too deep of a talent pool, and he isn't gonna be getting any freebies on his way up. unlike in mma (cough...PRIDE..cough), you don't get an instant shot at a champ just because you have an internet following.

kimbo is one tough cookie but he never fought a tough opponent. all he fought with are bum thugs and he defeated abbott who looked worst than those thug bums that kimbo fights with in the streets. hell, tank was so out of shape his ******* were all soggy. let kimbo fight a good fighter and i am sure kimbo's skin will turn white

There must be millions of people in the world with the talent necessary to be a good boxer, I dont think Kimbo is unnaturally talented. He's pretty good but most amatuer boxers are pretty good.

He could jump to the front of the queue and get a shot but i think if you put him in the ring with 10 ounce gloves on he would get beaten up pretty quick.

Most people can produce knockouts with 4oz gloves or fists, 10oz gloves requires timing, speed and accurace, something i dont think Kimbo has enough of.
