He never said anything bad about Lacy, whose management and himself insulted Joe a few times. He was always complimentary about Kessler.

I think Joe has learn't to play the game. Hatton smack talked Mayweather...lol.

I think they have realised that it does help sell fights. Though if they did that all the time, nobody would like them all that much it wouldn't work. Not over here. It's all for the benefit of an American audience.
It's very understandable to make digging comments to or about Hopkins. Except for Lennox Lewis (who is utterly objectionable in a different way) Hopkins is the most distasteful boxer I've ever seen either on screen or in person. If this is really Calzaghe, (and not his rep as someone has said) then I could listen to more of that.

What's with the hatred of Lennox. You're not Vitali Klitschko are you?

You do realize that Hopkins has ONE KO/TKO in his last EIGHT fights and that happened to be against a former 130 lb champ? Besides DLH, it's been FIVE YEARS since Hopkins stopped someone. Plus I hear that Calzaghe fella has a pretty decent beard.

that is the kind of **** of why no American fighters want to go over to Europe and fight or do any promotions. this is the typical bull**** treatment that they do to **** with foreign fighters over there, especially on a frank warren production. that guy is the greasiest bastard there is. setting up the opponent in less than savory arrangements, just to get under his skin and **** with his head. plus they're risking the fight and having it delayed by putting hopkins in a potentially susceptible risk position of getting a cold or flu, had it been joe or any of warrens fighters there would be a big cry and there would be a lot of criticism on and about US fighters and promoters. this is something i could see shaw trying to pull out of all the US promoters, but it is something that i would expect from warren, aka The Douche.
it's out and out mind games, the fight before the fight, i hope calzaghe gets treated like that over here, which won't happen, but i would like to see it. calzaghe is going to get the red carpet treatment over here in the states, the only mind games that are going to be coming at joe are the ones at the press conferences.

over the years you hear of this sort of stuff happening to US fighters over in Europe, one that comes to mind is when cory spinks fought piccirillo twice both times they tried to shanghai spinks with having his hotel 2 hours away from the fight location and they gym was an hour or two away from where he stayed.
you hear all sorts of ****ed up **** happening to foreign fighters over there, from ****ed up accommodations to poisoned to drugged food, to having the foreign fighters food go missing, etc. right now off the top of my head these are just a few things that i remember hearing and reading what happens, and i can't recall much of that stuff happening if at all over here in the states. i'm not going to say that it doesn't happen but i haven't heard of anyone in recent years being accused or caught in doing so. also i haven't heard of fighters coming to the US bringing there own food either, probably because they know no one is going to **** with there ****, but when a US fighter goes overseas they have to bring there own food or they are at high risk of someone drugging their food while abroad.

all in all i think it's a ****ed up thing to pull, i watched the video on it and hopkins had every right to be pissed about being treated like that, he is the champ at the weight they're fighting at, so what the ****!
also if i were him i would've ***** slapped the guy that told me that i should be used to it being from Philly and i would have also slapped the ***** who said wear warmer socks! and what the **** is the deal setting him up in a meat locker and wanting him to wear a robe and his trunks, that is some bull**** and like i said hopkins has every right to be pissed and if it were me someone would've gotten the pimp hand in a figure 8 style, multiple backhands!

You said the same thing for Mayweather-Hatton...

Though you are probably right for this one.

While I was typing, I figured I was jinxing the hell out of Calzaghe, but he's making 12 million for the fight, it won't be the end of the world if he gets stopped.

Not to mention he still has a bunch of fights for him after words.

Calzaghe still easily sells 50,000 in wales against Clinton Woods if he beats Tarver.
