Does Taylor's contract oblige him to fight on HBO?

Or can he have a few ESPN fights?

If he is contractually bound to fight on HBO he can only have one BAD fight against a Lacy or Manfredo type before fighting Kessler or Miranda (the only SMWs on HBO). While I think he could possibly win against Miranda, I also think he should avoid such a big puncher for now. And Kessler would kill a Taylor coming off two losses. So Taylor should definitely save that one for a few years.

But if he can fight on ESPN he can slowly reinvent himself and work his way to the top 5 after about four fights. This is the better career path for him, no?

Yeah like the kingtito said, but Di Bella also said it in a 'well HBO has come to us and said, guess what, we want Jermain on HBO next' so I would assume there is no real contract.

OK I see. But HBO is not going to let him off too easy. He's not an up and comer who needs to be showcased. If he gets a spot he has to fight someone good.

Now Lamps mentioned Kessler, but I can't see Di Bella even bringing that idea to JT at this point.

Yeah, I know what you mean. The dilemma of finding Taylor an opponent he can feel good about beating while finding one of elite standard. Do you think Taylor could get an immediate shot at one of the SMW titles if they are vacated?

I think I read that he and Berto were the only two who had contracts.

I can't really argue but it saddens me to see Lacy talked about as the Manfredo "type" ......

I understand you; I don't know if Lacy is finished as a championship fighter, but he's yet to get back to where he was two years ago.

I still want to see Lacy in an 18 ft ring (not that monster he fought Manfredo in) ,with some more ring rust knocked off, and a little more time to recuperate from the surgery before I write him off completely.
