With the fights only hours away, our team is very calm. It's funny during this time where I should be really nervous. I'm not. I know Montiel is a dangerous fighter and very good one. But I guess there is this feeling inside me, that I can't really describe...but all I know I had the same feeling, before the Vazquez-Marquez 2.
With Castillo already having his last meal. He is chill and relax. At this moment he is resting in his room. But after the meal, I gave a little talk to Gallito. Telling him what he needs to do in this fight. I also remind him that people don't know how far you have come for this moment.... This is not just a title fight.
I remind him the lost of Nashiro, then having surgery and being off for nine months.... all he could do was dream and wish what he would do in his comeback. And top of that he could not provide for his family. Then to make matters worst, his long time trainer and very close friend Chato Robles pass away. That was hard for Castillo. And once Gallito came back, people are saying he has lost a step. I remind him of these things....
I remind him, because I want him to use it as motivation. I know Castillo has what it takes. I'm not just saying it because I'm close to him. I look at things realistically. You have to in boxing. He's always been a good figher with a lot of talent. But this time around there is something different about Castillo...
Mentally, he is different. And never seen him so hungry. I can't explain but I feel we will see something special tonight. I know Montiel is a hell of a fighter and great champion. And it will not be an easy fight.
But once those lights turn on..... the musics plays.... listening to the crowd... we step in the ring.....and the feeling of Chato being there with us.....
And just an overall .....a feeling of something special is about to happen.
I can't wait. I'm excited. I know Castillo personally and have been there thru the good times and bad. I'll always be there by his side no matter what.
Castillo is a good guy who wants to be appreciated as fighter. But understands he needs to prove it in the ring before he gets his recognition. And I feel tonight Gallito will take that step towards that direction.....
