What I don't like about MMA is how it's generally sold, it tries to appeal to the lowest common denominator. Beer, blood, and babes!

I'd still pick a big boxing event over an mma one anyday though

on a different note, maybe you should post this on an mma forum?? jst a thought
well actually this thread wouldn't make any sense in an MMA forum. thats the whole point of the thread. imagine someone making a thread in Non Stop Boxing called "I'm slowly starting to like Boxing". Well no ****, everyone in non stop boxing likes boxing so.... He just wants to know what boxing fans think of MMA.

And I don't get this hating on MMA. Whats the problem exactly? Its different thats it. Don't compare one as being better than the other cuz they're not comparable even though they are both combat sports. I really like both sports.

George St Pierre is a great fighter tho
you hate it cuz you don't understand it. its the same with one of my friends who really hated boxing. But because I was a fan and he started watching it with me and understood that its a little more complexe than he thought it was, he started to like it too.
and yeah, St.Pierre rocks. the best p4p mma fighter in the world easily.

        I agree

but the sad reality is its the truth everywhere I go from Cali to new york they put the UFC or the MMA over Boxing.

the only time a boxing match got first dibs was when floyd jr fought delahoya, when floyd jr fought hatton some bars were showing that free spike tv ultimiate fighter final card instead.

All the bars, and Grill resteraunts haveUFC posters.

Today this morning walked in the mall and the popular sushi grill and italian bar and grill had 3 huge posters with kimbo and tank not one with pavlik vs taylor.

blame the hbo, and promoters for not building up this fight. They need to do a 24/7 for big ppv fights if they were smart they would know its cheap to do a 24/7 and after seeing the success of both 24/7 shows you would think they would keep doing them for big ppv fights.

haha, cuz boxing is sooo much different. I don't know about you, but there is alot of blood in boxing and boxing is none to have hot babes who have signs indicating rounds as well. and beer? you're telling me MMA has more to do with beer than boxing? I don't get it.

you are just hating by nit picking thats all.

MMA is hot, Anderson Silva's dancing is ****sexual, his beatdowns however are heterosexual, however we'll see how he does against my ***** HOLLYWOOD Henderson. And St. Pierre isn't the pound for pound best, Anderson and Fedor both trump him easily

mma is okay. Their striking ability is awful compared to boxing, so it feels horrible to watch them do that.

the only part I like is the ground fighting.

also, a lot of the time the fights are one sided in nature...not that they arent compeitive but...lets put it this way.
Fighter A is a good at ground fighting, lousy at striking. Fighter B is good at striking, lousy in ground fighting. While the two are fighting on their feet, it is going to look like a sparring session for fighter B, but then the second Fighter A takes to the ground it looks like he doesnt even have to try.

You never really get to see two excellent boxers box each other, two submission guys try to submit each other, etc. So basically most the time the fighters look overmatched or are just plainly fighting at a much lower level than pure wrestling, boxing, jiu jitsu, etc. That is to be expected...but it kind of takes away the viewing pleasure.
thats why I like boxing much more than mma nowadays.

I mean I'm not the sort of person who only likes 1 sport, but I love watching a lot of sports, and it's good to widen your horizons..
I m keen to watch the Kimbo and abbott fight after the pavlik taylor fight tomorrow, I think the heavyweights of MMA make this exciting, providing, its not just a ground brawl, but theres punching and kicking involved, and standing up fighting.
any1 else in the same boat as me?
Starting with UFC 67 and the Elite XC debut show, I've begin to follow MMA as well. It's frustrating when they're on the ground and I can't necessarily tell who has the advantage, and I'm not as into wrestling as I like stand up fighting, but because the fights are briefer and often contain more action, I can definitely enjoy the sport. Watched UFC 81 start-to-finish without losing interest...
