Benn & Eubank Overated

Good fighters but Overated they were'nt Elite fighters IMO they were a level below Elite ,Benn was beaten by Malinga once & he should have lost the first encounter aswell so the Benn was shot arguement goes out the window IMO he beat Iran Barkley who was'nt really a great fighter his claim to fame was Knocking out Tommy Hearns who had a suspect chin and a war with an over the hill Duran , Barkley was a good fighter but not great and he was passed his prime aswell when Benn Beat him

i would 'nt say Mauro Galvano was that great a chmapion either

as for Eubank he beat bum after bum after his win over Benn ,he was losing to Michael Watson in their second fight & he did lose to Benn 2nd time around IMO some people wil make a case that he was beaten by Watson the first time around aswell [not me ] ,Eubank beat legends like Dan Sherry ,John Jarvis ,Ray Close ,Thornton ,Esset

no disrespect to Michael Watson who is a legend in my eyes ,but Watson gave Benn & Eubank all they could handle & Michael Watson was'nt a great fighter IMO good but not great ,Michael Watson was given a Boxing lesson by Mike McCallum ,McCallum probably did more damage to him than Chris Eubank

James Toney ,Mike McCallum,RJJ , maybe even Herol Graham would have all beaten Benn & Eubank IMO ,good fighters but right place right time IMO ,popular fighters to

Jesus... even guys who are generally overlooked are overrated? I'd think you'd have to have alot of people ratig them for their to be a possible OVERrating, you know what I mean? Both were good fighters who always entertained.

I've never seen anyone mention Eubank or Benn as ELITE fighters. Hell I've rarely seen them even mentioned aside from a few UK guys in this forum.

They're underrated if anything, maybe a bit overrated by some UK people.

I'm gutted both of them are just outside my era of watching boxing along with Steve Collins and Watson.

Eubank should have been better than he was. Benn had alot of flaws but imagine him in against guys like Pavlik and Miranda!

Exactly my point, friend. They're the last guys we should target as overrated. Exciting, skilled fighters who hardly get any recognition, even by the avid fans on here.

For Americans who don't seem to know (??), Chris Eubank and Nigel Benn were every bit as big as Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson in Britain.

Under-rated by boxing fans and boxing people (due to jealousy), but generally over-rated by the general public because it's the only boxers they know.

Agreed. I see Eubank on par with Hopkins (pre Watson fight) but I think Hopkins would edge it out if they fought because styles make fights.

Pavlik could have easily handled Benn ,Benn did'nt have anything that Pavlik aint got
