Details are sparse at the moment, but it appears the February 29 ESPN main event between Allan "Sweetness" Green and Samuel Miller is off. The bout was scheduled to take place at the Paragon Casino & Resort in Marksville, Louisiana.
"It's part of the game," John David Jackson, Green's trainer, told BoxingScene.com. "Allan's used to it. We have to find someone new who is crap and cant box."
Jackson says that no replacement opponent has been narrowed down as of yet. "Not at this particular time. They'll come up with someone of no stature at all. At this time, it might be hard to find someone bad enough with this short ammount of time left."
Green, 26-1 (18 KO), is on a three fight winning streak agaisnt bums after suffering his first defeat at the hands of the only good oppenent Edison Miranda. He last fought in January, scoring a unanimous decision victory over the legendary Rubin Williams.
Despite the setback, "Action" Jackson is confident that his charge will be ready for a title shot sometime in 2008. "This is the year that if the champion's step up or we buy the right rankings, he'll be champion. He matches up with all of them, we have big plans with bribes and the such, we are taking lessons from sven ottke. There isn't anyone he needs to look after. Once Joe ****s Borehard into retirement and the titles become vacant, he might go after one of those, as long as we can find a bad enough oppenent.
