    JD “The Natural” Chapman Interview

In a time when so many are looking for the next great American heavyweight, supposed pundits will crown almost any undeserving fighter with a glossy record. This isn’t always fair or wanted by the prospect. This claim has been unwarrantedly thrust upon JD Chapman at times and he has been praised and chastised because of such. The young man from Arkansas knows he has something to prove in the ring, and finally feels he is ready to do so, he explains all in his sit-down with us. [details]

It's impossible to know for sure whether JD's any good or not until he faces a tough journeyman like Barrett or Ahunyana.

It's not impossible......He sucks. Barrett would whip his ass. This guy is going nowhere but down when he finally steps in with a top 20 guy.

When I think of built-up Stacy Goodson Arkansas fighters, JD Chapman mmediately comes to mind.

Seems like a nice guy. Hope he can improve more. He said he had no amateur-background so i think whe should not be too hard on him.

Ryan could verify this when he sees Jameel again, but JD is handling McCline in sparring these days as he prepares him for Ruiz. That really doesn't mean much in regards to how he will do in the ring against better opposistion, but McCline used to own the kid in sparring. As far as Stacy Goodson built fighters, this is the only one that has made any money or in reality been fortunate enough to do anything with their career. JD hasn't come out before and said he was the next great American heavyweight, that has been thrust upon him. For his sake I hope he turns into something, but we/he won't know until he fights another contender.

I saw JD last month getting handled by a 6-0 cruiserweight named Kasim Howard. It was if he had never seen a left jab before in his life. I was startled at how slow his feet were.

Was this a sparring session? Marcus Rhode said he was going to go after JD with his left and JD floored him fairly quick. JD is getting better and better since Scott bought him out from Goodson.

This was a sparring session. JD was getting pasted. If I didn't know who either of the guys were, I would've thought Howard was the top ten heavyweight and not vice versa. I can't invest any faith in a Stacy Goodson fighter. Where he gets most of his guys, I dunno.
