Yeah but Kickboxing is part of MMA hence the name "Mixed Martial Arts" I don't know what Fry's technique was (submissions, judo, wrestling) maybe that's why he couldn't hand a pure kickboxer, but a lot of these MMA guys have some boxing/Kickboxing background as well.

I don't know the point your trying to make here.

Boxing is also part of "Mixed Martial Arts" but no one in mma would be able to hang with top Boxers no matter what their background was.

No one in Boxing can go straight into MMA just like no one in wrestling,judo,kickboxing,bjj,ect,ect..... Because they would be at a total disadvantage without cross training going into another competition with different rules. It would be like a MMA fighter going into a new fight sport where you can use knives and brass knuckles, do you think the guys would have to train for the new rules if they wanted to win?
