    Paul William's Fighting Style?

I have not seen the fight between Williams and Quintana yet therefore my questions are based on comments stated on the forum. How can Williams standing at 6"2' with very long arms allow someone who is only 5"9' to fight him on the inside? What happened to the basic jab and cross along with movement which is especially useful for tall fighters to keep short fighters from closing the gap? Is Williams the case of a tall fighter that does not know how to fight tall? It sounds like Williams should try to link up with Emmanuel Stewart who generally works well with tall fighters. Props to Quintana in defeating the giant.

Williams is a volume puncher, pure and simple. His jab is not accurate or powerful, and he leaves himself completely off balance after almost every shot, which is why Quintana was able to smack him with counter after counter.

Additionally, Williams's defense is pretty bad, so Quintana was even able to land a bunch of straight left leads and right hooks at will without Williams first throwing a punch.

Quintana might have won all 12 rounds had his stamina not been so subpar.

The Quintana fight is a horrible example of his true style. lol.

I mean he didn't throw punches and just crowded Quintana at times smothering his punches. Normally he catches fighters at the end of his punches...........because they're stationary. I mean look at the guys he was able to shine against (Tony, Mitchell, Mattysse) none of them elusive although prior to his knee injury and the fact he aged and went up in weight and took all the beatings.....Mitchell relied on his speed and elusiveness. That went away and really he's no threat as a fighter at the top tier anymore.

Quintana kind of exposed that being mobile nullifies his attack.

** There are no secrets in boxing. No matter what the style and physical attributes, there are ways to overcome them.

Williams is being unmercifully hammered by yammering yobs who always overrate every win and loss by top fighters. He fought a very quick, tricky, talented lefty with a good arsenal and workrate willing to take some chances to win the fight. A great fight by Quintana who really had to work to pull out the fight at the end.

If Williams had a bit more power, Quintana might've been KOed. Williams got back into the fight after giving up the early rounds. Quintana looked like he'd been through a meatgrinder at the end.

Williams has a great chance to work on new techniques, will be back and probably ends up as a 3 division champ. I'd say with most of the top guys fighting each other, the welt division is almost back as the top division. What's holding it back is Floydy won't fight these guys.

Cintron, Margarito, Williams, Mosley, and Quintana have recent losses because they're fighting each other like Duran, Hearns, Benitez, and Leonard used to. Cotto has proven to be the top dog in the division for now regardless of Floydy's p4p title and quest for the Oscar sweepstakes.

A three division champ? He cant even hurt welter weights, imagine him fighting a middleweight like Pavlik, Miranda, Taylor, or anyone for that matter at 160, they would just walk through him EASY. Unless Paul some how miracuously gets power in his fists or fights someone handpicked for his style, I dont think he will ever beat one of the top guys above 147.

quintana won fair and square! one thing i will say is that williams looked like utter ****, and fought the worst fight i have ever seen him fight! is that because quintana made him look so bad? or did he just have a really bad night? perhaps a bit of both? i have no clue!

A bit of both is usually the correct answer in these equations. Williams definitely wasn't the same fighter he was when he won the title.
