    An odd comparison...

I look at Paul Williams and Jermain Taylor, and these dudes have a TON in common.

They are both down south "yes sir" gentlemen.
    They both were undefeated champions.
They both were considered to be the next big thing.
Their styles allowed them to look incredible against guys moving up, bums and faded fighters.
The truth set in when they started to face the elites in the sport (even their wins were pretty close and both were seemingly always in trouble in their big fights).
Since winning their championship(s), both ended up losing to a guy who they were supposed to fare better against than almost all of their previous championship fights.

And finally, they are two of the nicest guys in the world. After Hopkins and Margarito bitched and moaned about a robbery, they still have nothing but nice things to say about them.

Yeah I don't consider Williams as anything like Taylor.

Taylor is more of an outspoken good ol boy rancher who happens to be Black.

Williams is the stereotypical down south balla from the hood.

Good thread though, I see where you're going with this.

He is always respectful to everyone, never really talks **** and always says "yes sir"... none of which those who try to be "hood" are known for doing.

Yeah sincere, and there are plenty of sincere fighters.

I just didn't see a parallel outside of the fact they were both raised in the South........when one guy listens to Balla rap and speaks with a Hip Hop accent...........and the other listens to Phil Collins and rides four wheelers talking like a redneck on a two way radio.

Other than the first Hopkins fight... when have you heard Taylor come in with non-hip hop music?

            Hopkins (2) - Motivation by T.I.
            Ouma - Motiviation by T.I.
            Spinks - Big **** Poppin' by T.I.
Pavlik - Duffle Bag Boy by Lil' Wayne

Don't kid yourself, Taylor is not a pig ****er (well not a full-time pig ****er anyway), he probably has a fair bit of street knowledge.

Also "Hood *****" Paul Williams does a lot of fishing and answers every question with the word "sir" at the end... not what gang ****ers typically do.

                Good call.

Even so... he may be 25% pig ****er, but the other 75%... "HE'S SO HOOD!"

All he does is wear his pants below his waist.

Both Taylor and Williams pants are below their waists.

They're 6 foot tall men who weigh 160 pounds. I don't think they have pants in their wardrobe that can fit that type of skinny.
