....So...I remember this show years back called Sliders. Basically, a group got caught up in a failed science project to open worm-holes in this dimension to travel to alternate ones. The dimensions could be just like Earth - but in some Hitler had won WWII, or slavery never ended- sometimes people had developed gills or lived in harmony with aliens.

I think those people who are picking Gomez in any shape, way, or fashion are coming from one of those alternate dimensions. One in which Gomez is more than an over-marketed club fighter from the Contender series with solid skills but nothing on the level of a real elite boxer like Cotto.

That's the only explanation I have.
