WBO Gives Margarito 5 Days For Quintana

According to the latest report in Endi, the WBO has given Antonio Margarito five-days to decide if he's going to exercise his right as the mandatory challenger to welterweight champion Carlos Quintana. If Margarito goes forward with his April 12 rematch with IBF champion Kermit Cintron, he will lose his mandatory position. [details]

The WBO imposed a term of five days, as of yesterday, to Antonio Margarito, to indicate if he wishes to exert its right like obligatory challenger of Carlos the Indió Quintana, in search of reconquering the welter title of the organism. "If he is not interested in the fight ", explained Francisco Valcárcel, president of the WBO, "then we will remove him from number one spot". Margarito has predicted to challenge the 12 of April to Kermit Cintrón by the Title of the IBF, but, in agreement its manejador, Francisco Espinoza, also are considering now the alternative to challenge Quintana. to decide on the fight with Cintrón, Shane Mosley, the classified second, would happen to be the obligatory challenger of Quintana. Nevertheless, Mosley, according to seems, goes to face Zab Judah the 31 of May. That case, the Briton Michael Jennings (32-1 and 16 nocauts), would become the obligatory challenger of Quintana. Quintana conquered the crown Saturday when winning by decision to Paul Williams in Temécula, California. Valcárcel explained that the contract for that fight contained a rematch clause, "but our regulation prohibits immediate rematches, unless it is by an extraordinary exception: an controversial decision or that the television requests it ". In this case no of those two causal ones seems to occur.
hey, nice sig pic, where'd you get it.

Would love a larger version of that.

Margarito should decline and go with the fights that he has setup now. He already beat Cintron once and can get that belt. After that if the Mayorga/Cotto bout is a lie than he could face Cotto in a huge fight. Plus he took a chance last year with Paul Williams, and it backfired on him. I think he could beat Quintana, but there's also a chance he could lose.

Margarito should fight them both on the same night. They are both easy fights for him.

Margarito should fight Cintron, then if the Cotto fight falls through he should fight Paul Williams (rematch). All the while Clottey should fight Quintana. Then you could have Margarito/Williams Winner Vs. Clottey/Quintana winner. Cotto beats Gomez and fights Mayorga. Then faces the Margarito/Williams//Clottey/Quintana winner!!!! IMO that means Margarito would fight Cintron, Williams and Clottey/Quintana winner this year, Cotto would fight Gomez, Mayorga and the winner who emerges from the little four way cluster. I have heard Cotto is gonna fight 3--4 fights this year, Arum said 4!!!!

me being margarito, i still go on with my fight against cintron. he already has a HUGE mental advantage over his opponent in that fight, quintana is an enigma who could potentially make margarito look foolish in following him around the ring to the tune of another L.
