Not taking anything away from Monzon. I just thought Hagler and Sugar Ray had a better body of work. I mean Marvin Hagler had one of the best fights ever with Hearns. Monzon was good, only had 14 title defenses Hopkins had 20...do the math...no h8

That's the 2nd most in middleweight history.

And when he won the title, he took it from THE champ in Nino Benvenutti.

Similar to Calzaghe, Hopkins won his title via vacancy and was one of a number of champs in the division until he unified.

Hagler, Robinson, Monzon and Nunn are the top four for me, that I've seen and know.

I rate Toney over Hopkins. Not seen Greb, Ketchel or Tiger.

Toney was too inconsistent at 160.

He got a gift against Dave Tiberi, barely squeaked past Reggie Johnson, and arguably lost the Mike McCallum rematch.

The win over Michael Nunn was excellent, and he should've won a close one over McCallum the first time around, but he was hardly one of the greats @ 160 and certainly below B-Hop at there.

Toney was a little green @ 160 and still improving. He was better at 168 where he was much more dominant in his title fights before running into Roy Jones.

Hopkins could easily fit on this list. Anyone that puts Pavlik (who hasn't even defended the title once) on this list is a joke.

i don't like his ugly style (except for the benvenutti ko, that was beautifully brutal) and he was a de****able human being, but let's be real, he was a great, great fighter.
