If Michael Nunn beats James Toney does he get on this list? (was winning the fight on all scorecards before getting KO'd in the 11th)

Nunn could have been one of the best middleweights ever. He had dominating skills. Too bad he fell in with the wrong people and let his skills deteriorate.

        Jones isn't a top middleweight.

Hagler, Monzon, Robinson, Greb, Ketchel, Walker, Cerdan, LaMotta, Hopkins... Not sure how I would rank them.

Monzon and Hagler are top two for me. Robinson's best work was done in the welterweight division.
I have a hard time ranking the old timers because I haven't seen any footage of them.

Not taking anything away from Monzon. I just thought Hagler and Sugar Ray had a better body of work. I mean Marvin Hagler had one of the best fights ever with Hearns. Monzon was good, only had 14 title defenses Hopkins had 20...do the math...no h8

It's pretty much accepted among fans that Monzon, Hagler, and Robinson are at the top. I rate Hopkins also because of the 20 defenses, even though some were against weak opponents. Ther's no way you could leave Monzon out of the picture with his 14 defenses, a record that stood up until Hopkins started on a roll with his win over Trinidad. Monzon was no prodigy skillwise but his style was effective and he holds wins over Emille Griffith and Nino Benvenutti, to name a few.

Carlos Monzon had wins over Nino Benvenuti (82-4, 3-time world champion), Emile Griffith (70-11, 5-time world champion), Jose Napoles (75-5, 3-time world champion) and Rodrigo Valdez (57-4, 2-time world champion).

Monzon fought anyone, anywhere, anytime. He always fought solid opposition and beat them in their own home countries.
Also count in the fact that he was not beaten for 13 years, he only lost in his early 20's.

I'm surprised that so many have been putting Hopkins on the list. I agree with it I'm just surprised.
