    Does Quintana's victory over Williams....

...raise the value of Cotto's win over Quintana? Obviously right? I just remember a couple guys I used to work with were calling Cotto "overrated" and "fighting nobodies all the time". I remember one of them saying "who the **** is Carlos Quintana". Guess we all know now.

If Floyd can get through by beating the man who beat the man, why cant Cotto? Cotto is clearly the front-runner of the WW's, despite Floyd's trinkets that he aquired when beating baldomir.

cotto's a bona fide guy, the simple fact that in his wake he's left us with 3 good champs in malignaggi, torres and quintana - speaks volumes to his body of work.

Cotto has fought 9 fighters who were either former title holders or became title holders after they fought Cotto:

Randall Bailey (former WBA Jr. Welter)
Chop-Chop Corley (former WBO Jr. Welter)
        Carlos Maussa
        Lovemore N'Dou
        Ricardo Torres
        Paul Malgnaggi
        Carlos Quintana
        Zab Judah (former WW undisputed)
        Shane Mosley (former WW undisputed)

I think the fact that 5 fighters Cotto defeated went on to win titles in those divisions says a lot about Cotto. Quintana's win shows that Cotto can handle the top tier opponents. It does enhance his standing, but not as much as beating them while they hold the belts, lol.

Cotto holds a decisive KO win over another welterweight title holder, the only loss of that fighter's career. There is no downside to that.
