    Quintana Discusses His Win

Editor: We've got Carlos Quintana here, the new WBO welterweight champion. Give us your thoughts on the fight tonight.

Carlos Quintana: "I'm really happy for this victory. We made a lot of sacrifices for this fight, and here is the result."

Editor: Was there a time during this fight when you knew you had this fight won?

Carlos Quintana: Since the first minute of the first round, I knew that I would beat this guy.

Editor: Was the fight easier than you thought it would be?

CQ: It wasn't that easy. This guy was tough, he has a good chin. The toughest part was the training camp, we spent the whole Christmas and the New Year. There are a lot of holidays in Puerto Rico. We missed a lot of time with our families training for this fight.

Editor: How much did you want to try to knock him out before the 12th round was over?

CQ: I knew that maybe I could knock him out, but he was a tough guy, with a good chin.

Editor: Are you going to give him a rematch?

CQ: Yes, it doesn't matter it's okay to me. That depends on the money, we'll have to make a new negotiation.

Quintana fought a very good fight, went in there with a very good gameplan and deserved the win. He made the most of what could have been his last shot, good for him.

no need for a re-match, there are better match-ups that can be made at this point in the division

The fight was good and the right guy won.. No need for a rematch. Paul Williams can fight Margarito for a mandatory or just rebuild his career. Quintana, would be a good fight with Margarito, Clottey, or Mosley. Williams wasn't the type to rematch the former champion. I was cool with that. No need for him to get something he didn't offer.

the only reason id wanna rematch is cuz i think paul can beat him.. it wasnt like a one sided win where the loser could of never beat the winner you know?

                I think Margarito/Williams after Margarito/Cintron with the Margarito/Williams getting a shot at a Quintana/Clottey winner!!!!

                Margartio Beat Clottey
                Williams beat Margarito
                Quintana beat Williams

i hope there is not a rematch for the sole reason that it will rob us of the unification bouts we so desire!
