I know there is no way this will happen anytime soon, but what do you think would happen if these 2 fought at light middle, or possibly even welterweight?

well i think the q is so wrong cuz it wont happened..so i'll answer it like this:who would win if cotto fought someone like tito
from what i saw..when pinto wasnt being a idiot and boxing cotto..he kept him away..but then he went in..and cotto ko'ed him...so i think if cotto fought someone will boxing ability and great power..no doubt he would be ko'ed
since there is no one at140 that does this..cotto will be good for now...
______
if cotto fought tito he would be killed by the way
______
i dont think cotto would make it at welter actually cuz boxers like margarito would ko himComment

cotto at the moment would be easily taken out by titos superior power
but to say someone like tito who could box and **** would beat cotto isnt right
cuz tito cant box
he just has nice movement and finds angles
but i wouldnt call it boxing
to me
boxing intails avoiding punches and landing yours
he seems to be working on that now
but tito that fought hopkins and everyone b4
didnt care about avoiden punches
hes lets u land so long as he can get one in
but yes he does seem to be workin on that, and if he does fix it hed have an easier time with someone like cottoComment

This is a ****** matchup. To me, this is like when they were talking about matching Tito with Roy Jones. Roy Jones started his career to weight classes above Tito and moved up, eventually by four weight classes, but at the time it was only two. Tito started his career one weight class above Cotto and eventually moved up three weight divisions. The difference is Tito was an enormous welterwight, while Jones was only a slightly above average middleweight. Yes, they're both gifted fighters, but that doe not make the fight competitive. Tito would not have had much of a chance against Jones, and Cotto would not have much of a chance against Tito.
A much better match up is Kermit Cintron versus Tito. Cintron's even bigger than Felix was, and of course Tito is much more proven. It will probably happen, but not until Tito's older. Folks'll want it to be a crossroads fight.Comment

I think the question should be framed a bit differently. Take Cotto now versus Tito when he was at 140/147. If you take both fighters and put them in similiar stages in their career I think the argument changes. Too me Cotto is a much better overall fighter at this stage in his career than Tito was at the same stage. Tito use to lose the first three rounds against everyone until the left hook changed everything. Tito was in my mind always a matchmaking mistake away from being outlcassed when he was young (aren't they all). Cotto is far more complete and I feel if they both fought at the same stage(meaning 140/147) I believe Cotto would beat him in a gory war. Now days, of course you have to go with Tito, he would find a home for the left and it would eventually end. But when Tito was young and at a caparable weight I believe Cotto would win.Comment

Back when Tito was at 147, he wasn't in love with his power, and was close to a complete fighter. He utilized his very stiff jab frequently, he was extremely devastating and committed to the body, and it his power was possibly more vaunting. Trinidad stops Cotto badly.Originally posted by scapI think the question should be framed a bit differently. Take Cotto now versus Tito when he was at 140/147. I think Cotto will carry 147 with ease. It seems that he would be the stronger fighter as well. Tito has the reach and height advantage I think. Cotto works to the body as well as anyone today and just as well as Tito used to at 147 IMO. Tito has better two handed punching power...Cotto has better defense. Tito used the jab more effectively than Cotto does now. Cotto has better movement and is one of the most poised fighters I've ever seen at such a young age. I have never seen Cotto rocked so I cannot comment on chins although Tito was extremely vulnerable to flash KD's it seemed. Tito's left hook is better but Cotto's is not far behind at all. I think Cotto sets his fighter up better and cuts off the ring very effectively too. It could go either way IMO.Originally posted by cpleBack when Tito was at 147, he wasn't in love with his power, and was close to a complete fighter.
