    News on Joel Julio

I know Joel is doing his contender circuit tour with Bondrage and Ishe Smith but he has been fighting at catch weights of 151-152ish in what I have thought were hopes to return to the bounty we call the WW's.

Is there any news on what his plans are? Is he gonna come back down to WW or officially become a full fledged jrMW? I think he has a fan friendly style and would prefer to see him at WW where he can have very exciting fights against the non-slick WW's, guys like Berto, Margarito, Clottey, Cotto.

From what I have read, Julio can't make welterweight anymore and is campaigning at 154 now. He will be fighting Ishe Smith this spring in a fight he'll have to work hard to win.

Julio is absolutely fighting at 154 now. We had matchmaker Brian Little on the show the other night and he broke the news about Joel's next fight and that he is staying at 154.

I can recommend that as a good boxing internet radio show to listen to.

I know there was a mentioned card for B.A.D on HBO that was supposed to have Julio face James Kirkland and on the undercard Angulo was gonna face Tsurkan, but I think that fell through. It seems like he's going to stay at Jr MW, which is a good idea since WW is loaded with talent and Jr MW is wide open. I was dissapointed the fight with Kirkland didn't go through because I felt that one was going to be good.

Joel Julio is just age 23 and already is 32-1. His only loss was a decision to Quintana, and he stopped a decent opponent, Cornelius Bundrage in his last fight.

Julio vs. Smith is a very good matchup for ESPN Wednesday night fights. Whoever wins this definitely deserves a world title shot.

He needs to rematch Cosme Rivera to see how much he really improved.(though its too much of a risk to face Rivera again)
