Paul Williams didn't lose any credibility

he didnt' lose anything but a close fight. no shame in that. he is still very much a top fighter at 147 who will still have hard times getting meaningul fights.

You gotta give Quintana credit for fighting a perfect fight. Williams is a very very hard guy to offset but Quintana did it perfectly for the whole 12 rounds. Williams had his moments but Quintana would not be denied. it was a memorable and great performance one I will not forget. exciting fight.

Williams will rebound from this. he is still an attraction, still a force, now he has something to prove. i still think Williams could beat floyd. it would be very interesting to see floyd use his talents against a guy like Williams. it would be a tough challenge for floyd. he probly wont take the risk but it would be interesting.

Williams vs. Judah and Mosely and Mayorga would be good action too. Williams is very interesting at 147, hope he can keep making the weight. he is a nice fighter to watch. seems like a nice guy too

Quintana did not fight a perfect fight. His conditioning was not perfect, his activity inconsistent. He fought a smart fight, yes, and won the rounds he needed.

Williams is done as a TV fighter; (maybe he'll make the odd ESPN or VS card). I hope HBO didn't have a longer contract with him. Williams will move to a higher weight class where he'll be a gatekeeper and tough out for young fighters. But his name should never come first in the billing again.

imo this loss comes at the worst possible time for Paul Williams. It's going to take a while for him to rebound because now, really, there is no motivation for any of the big name welters to fight him (if you think he was avoided before, it will be worse now). So he's going to have to work his way back up the hard way (fighting good, but relatively unknown names).

But I agree it wasn't that bad of a loss. Whatever happened on saturday, whether it was an "off night," inexperience fighting another southpaw or simply getting outclassed by Quintana, he can make adjustments. There are a lot of technical things in the ring he can improve, especially his defense. He should use this as a learning experience.

And I have to remind myself that he's only 26. He's very young and can still learn from his mistakes.

The loss was no big surprise to me. (still a great fight, I can't say it didn't have moments where I thought Williams was going to start running away with it) I thought after watching Margorito let the fight slip away that this would be the way to beat Williams. PW won't get a fight against Mayweather and if he did, PBF would pick him apart worse than Quintana did.

Paul Williams, just like Kermit in the past, needs to change his managing team. Then and only then, he will be back and re-stablish himself as one of the best. PW and his camp understimate Quintana, big mistake. Change his camp, and if a rematch with Quintana ever happens, PW could win.

I put a lot of stock into Paul Williams, but now I retract those statements. He's not that great a welterweight. He has the physical gifts but not the boxing skills to do those justice. He reminds of a Hearns with less punching power and less boxing skills. Paul Williams lost that fight on Saturday imo...Don't know what fight Harold Lederman was watching. Paul Williams should have controlled the geography in the ring, he has to learn how to dance. He has to understand that there is a distance in which he can land a punch and can't be hit, but he was just throwing out those little flicky jabs with no conviction and Quintana didn't have to worry about it. So then he just lunged in through Williams' horrible defense, but like Max Kellerman said that fight was more of a credit to skills of Miguel Cotto. Can't Wait for Cotto/Mayweather

Williams also tries to fight on the inside and doesn't use his reach. That would be a mistake against Cotto.

This was my 4th time watching Paul fight. I can say he did appear to have an off night. He was very slow, and couldn't get into his normal rhythm. Sharba Mitchell moved around quickly while jabbing. Not a problem for Williams who was quick too. Quintana gets all the credit though, he fought smart. Williams will be back, less green and ready to fight! he will learn from his mistakes, and not overlook fighters.
