I think Margarito beat Williams in a rematch. I won't say Margarito should've won the first one cause it was really close and Williams kept trhowing non-stop. I just think Tony starts early and finishes late this time around.
I see Quintana taking the early lead and winning the early rounds with his footwork and higher landing percentage. The thing is what round will Margarito start to kick it up. We saw Margarito clearly lose the early rounds against Clottey, Williams and Cintron.
He came back by KOing Cintron.
He came back against Clottey when Clottey hurt his hands and wasn't able to punch back. However he wasn't able to come back on Williams. He was already down too much.
I think Margarito will come on in the middle rounds when Quintana tires a bit but when Quintana finds his second wind he will do enough to split the late rounds and win a UD.
We actually agree here. I don't know about my boy Cotto though, I think Gomez will put a real good fight, I don't think Miguel stops him like everybody here says.
I know you have a particulate distaste for Cotto's style but what do you think of his opponent, do u think he's just another bum on his record?
I think Gomez has an excellent chance to win. I would bet on it.
He's durable, hungry as hell, and relentless. He comes to get it, and Cotto would be in for the most concerted effort of the life of Alfonso Gomez.
I can't help but to think that it'd look somewhat like Margarito's second bout with Santos. The obvious comparisons aside, I can see Quintana controlling early with hard power shots and good movement...Margarito turning the fight around later when the pressure gets to Carlos.
I know Carlos dug deep in the later stages of the Williams bout, but it'd be interesting to see if he could do the same against a significantly harder puncher in Margarito.
If I had a gun against my head I'd say Margarito by late stoppage.
Quintana wins a decision. Margarito is slower than Williams (who had trouble hitting Quintana) and doesn't cut off the ring as well as Cotto (who Quintana was able to move effectively against for a while). Cotto destroyed him because he is a MUCH more accurate puncher than Margarito, especially to the body. Not to mention, he has much more power. Margarito couldn't inflict the damage Cotto did even if he hit Quintana. Also, he'd get dizzy as **** trying to chase Quintana around the ring. Carlos outboxes him just like he did Williams, perhaps even easier.

That's why I see Margarito beating him. Becasue even against Williams there in the middle rounds Quintana was tiring, but since Williams punches are not too hard he was able to catch a second wind and finish strong. I think Marg's shot's would hurt more and Quintana would be worn down in the late rounds and be prone to a KO.
Antonio Margarito has 5 notable losses, Paul Williams, Daniel Santos, Rodney Jones, Larry Dixon, Victor Lozoya. With the exception of Larry Dixon, what do all these fighters have in common???
They are all "SOUTHPAWS"!
Antonio Margarito, as bad ass as he is, has trouble with lefty's. Which says he will have his hands full with Carlos Quintana, a well established SPOUTHPAW. I gotta go with Quintana on this one. And it goes to the score cards, no way Indio KO's Margarito.
