As someone mentioned, a guy like Jeff Fenech is a perfect example of a volume puncher with no power. He won all his fights on overwhelming his opponents with punches and mauling them. He had very, very brittle hands and very little KO power.

I'm too young to remember him, but Gavilan had 28 KO's in 143 fights. Fenech, who I do remember, had 21 KO's in 32 fights. Stats can be misleading, but I think it is clear who was the harder puncher.

If Wayne McCullough was an ATG he would be the one and only choice. Non stop punching but couldn't knock out a fly.

Hey, actually, what about Barry McGuigan? He could be considered an ATG....sort of.

Of course, but Gavilan wasn't a volume puncher. He was a good boxer. He used movement and speed and good punching technique to win fights. Fenech jabbed with his head and threw a lead right with his foot! He didn't have technique. He just fought. He completely overwhelmed his opponents with constant punching and rough housing. He made opponents quit from wearing them down with non stop punches until they just couldn't handle it anymore. But, he didn't KO opponents with one punch. Big difference.

I think thats what Dwiens is asking?

By his reputation and from what I've seen, I thought Gavilan was a volume puncher. But like I said I'm not an expert on him. Fenech had bad hand problems, but he wasn't a feather puncher like a Paulie Malignaggi is or a Maxie Rosenblum was.

Classic example of pressure fighter who steadily broke down his opponents through the sheer volume of punches & relentless attack, but had little in the way of power (although that was partially very bad hands).
Jeff Fenech is not an ATG

The only one I can think of right now is Juan Diaz...

But every other one seems to get exposed to counter punchers.

              Thoughts?
Does Juan Diaz's victories over Freitas and Julio Diaz make him an ATG, or was it the Lakva Sim fight?

I think he was thinking future ATG, if Juan continues at this pace. Anyway I can get some of that action on Diaz/Campbell?

                  Good call...

                  I don't know what the **** I was thinking.

Speaking of Juan Diaz, care to put some more points on your boy Nate Campbell? I try to bet on every fight where I have seen both guys... good way to get interested and hopefully sharpen my prediction skills.

5K or 10K if you are interested.
