If Oscar wants a real tune-up to really tune himself up for Mayweather's style then he should go ahead with his plans to fight Steve Forbes. It's a low risk fight and Forbes will give him some angles in there to prepare for Floyd's movement.

But if Oscar wants HUGE MOMENTUM coming into the Floyd rematch then he should fight Chavez Jr. It will make the rematch that much better. What better way then knocking out a young undefeated up and coming fighter with a big name heading into The World Awaits part2.

Good Point. Oscar is on the way out and He wants to go out on the winning tip. He should take on Forbes and work on his defense and counterpunching against a slickster. The second fight should be against ZAB Judah . The final fight he will be less rusty and more prepared for a smart fighter like MAyweather.

There is no time to squeeze in a Zab Judah fight in between May and September. Not when your name is Oscar Delahoya. Besides, that's too much risk for him which is why all the names in the running (malinaggi, Forbes) were jr. welterweights, not welterweights.

I would love to see that fight in december... Chavez jr. needs to fight 3 named fighters by then after celaya.... i'll give Jr. a good chance to win. Oscar fades in the late rounds, maybe with jr's devistating body attack DLH will fade sooner.

Seems like this bout probably will happen in December. It makes plenty of sense considering Chavez can have plenty of fights before the end of the year and his name can grow even more. That bout or the Trinidad bout should be his fairewell.

I told you all this fight is a must. It was just a matter of time before it made mainstream discussion. This fight HAS to happen. Oscar will not let this $$$ opportunity slip by him. But I'll tell you what Jr needs to do to make this fight happen before Oscar decides to hang em up.

                    1. He needs to destroy Celaya
                    2. He needs for his next fight to be on HBO and within the next few months
                    3. He needs to fight 4-6 times in the next 12-18 months
                    4. Within those fights, he needs to beat a couple of former DLH leftovers
                    5. He needs to win an alphabet title at 154 or 160
                    6. He needs to publically call out DLH, on HBO

And for his best chances to win the fight, he needs the above mentioned "rushed" experience, cuz there's no other way; and the fight needs to take place at 160 lbs, cuz by then, the kid won't have any other alternative, he's growing like a horse. Oscar would look tiny in the ring with the boy, but then again, didn't Julio Cesar Chavez Sr look small against Oscar?

I think the fight could be made with careful, aggressive planning on Top Rank's part. And if it ever does, this fight will break all numbers, cuz it has "story"... Imagine HBO PPV in Azteca Stadium or Dodger Stadium, Chavez Jr vs De La Hoya, "La Revancha"
