Looking at it i wonder about this, personally i feel De La Hoya was but lets get some opinions on this.
Is Calzaghe the best Hopkins has ever fought?

I dunno if it's Calzaghe, but it's definitely not De La Hoya. Sure, DLH has skills aplenty, but he was clearly outside of his weight class. To me, it's like Manny Pac taking on Wlad Klitschko and then asking if he's the best that Wlad has faced.
I guess we'll find out when they face each other. If Joe doesn't do as well as, say, Taylor, then we'll have a clearer answer. -
i am not sure you can compare odlh since he is not really a force at 60! i would have to say roy was better than joe, but than joe next being the second best bhop faced! followed by trinidad/delahoya!Comment

Trinidad was the best on paper at the time they fought (top p4p, unbeaten, supposed to destroy Hopkins).
Roy Jones was the best for what he became (he wasn't accomplished at the time though).
Calzaghe might be the most skilled fighter Hopkins has ever fought, we will see. Not saying Calzaghe is better than prime Jones but the Roy Jones a young Hopkins fought wasn't a prime Roy Jones.Comment

It was probably Roy Jones or Trini who at eh time was undefeated and Hop was an underdog in the bout. Cal is up there with the best of them, either him, Jones or Trinidad get's the nod.Comment

Although RJJ and Trinidad have better resumes, I still think Joe is the more naturally skilled fighter.Comment

Roy Jones was B-Hop's best, by far.
I think this question should be asked in the reverse: Is Hopkins the best that Calzaghe has ever fought? Discuss.Comment
