I Propose a CHANGE!!!!!!!!

Crusierweight Division gets its name changed to the HEAVYWEIGHT DIVISION. And HEAVYWEIGHT divion gets its name changed to the SUPERHEAVYWEIGHT DIVISION.

That makes allllllllll the sense in the world. Ask your casual sports fan what a crusierweight is and they wont be sure whether they weigh 115 pounds or 300 pounds.

But by calling it heavyweights, you bring it back to what it used to be when Joe Louis and early Muhammad Ali were fighting, and you eliminate these ridiculous matches where a guy outsizes his opponent by 2 feet and 100 pounds!

The only thing that would be a problem is getting a guy like Klitschko to give up the title of "Heavyweight champion of the world" for a sort of worse sounding "superheavyweight champion of the world

To confusing and people would NEVER get used to it. It would also diminish the entire HW mistique. Not a bad idea though.

Yes but they aren't heavyweights, they are superheavyweights.

And there fights are so much less exciting then the Cruiserweight fights.

Having Cruiserweights be known as heavyweights would be a HUGE improvment for boxing IMO.

BUt like skills said, it could be a rough transition for casual fans and fans. But if its done right and the brilliant minds put there heads together... it could be a real smooth transition IMO

If that were to happen it would ruin HW history but if it did the "new" HW division you speak of should be like from 190-210 or maybe even 220 so that the smaller HW could make weight.....alot of guys that are like 220 now would have hhell getting down to 200.

But the Cruiserweights are under 200 pounds. Louis, Ali, Frazier were all over 200 lbs.

Louis destroyed 6'6 260 lbs boxers. Dempsey and Marciano too.

Cruiserweight division is just to close up the gap between LHW and HW so we won't have LHW's who are getting too big for their division try their luck against big heavyweights.

kball15 i usally aggree with what you have to say but not here.

Would prime Holyfield clean up the Heavyweight Division of today? And hes just a small heavyweight. Its not about size but skills. And a lost of the heavyweights would add more pounds just to challenge and make more money at super heavyeweight.

I do think the division should be promoted a lot better because these are basically the heavyweights of the past. 195-215 pound men who hit almost as hard and fight at a much faster pace.
