Jr. is good but young an unproven. It will be a while before we see what he's all about.

I think Chavez Jr gets a bad rep for not fighting anyone but people forget hes only 21 or 22 yrs old with no amature experience...but if alphabet titles are gonna rank him that high he must step his competition up...Chavez Jr Berto would never happen but that would be a good fight for both up and comers.

True but remember, they are doing to him what is done in todays dat and age with young prospects, bring them up slowly. I think Chaves Sr. learned from his mistakes and is making sure that his son doesn't repeat his mistakes.

In time we will see Jr. fight much better opposition.

Chavez Jr. is being brought up more or less at the same pace as his father. Chavez Sr. had 43 fights under his belt before he challenged for a world title. The main difference is Jr. has a much bigger name at this stage in his career than his father did before he won a title. People look at the number of fights he's had and say he should have stepped up already but if you look at his age and how long he's been a pro, he's fighting the same kind of competition other fighter who have been around the same amount of time do.

i agree 100% but as fight fans when someone makes a name for themselves we immediately start salavating in the mouth when we think of good matchups for them, to see how good they really are...but you have to just trust his managers and promoters to know whats best for him...hopefully we can see more of him with better opposision because from what i have seen from him i really dont think he is going to be a threat in the Welterweight Diviison.

Writer's note - I saw the kid fight at MSG.

He's got some skills. My feeling is that he can be something.

Jr. ain't the only one taking baby steps. That one Olympic Gold Medalist who fights at super middlweight i forget his name is also taking baby steps and already has a few years as a pro and has yet to really step up.

None of the Chavez kids will be as good as their dad but they got good shots to a belt. I saw recent pics of Jr and i didnt like his physique i think he might be slacking which is really bad.

                      chavez jr

he can be something at 154 because the division is weak ... but at 147 he will get crushed by the likes of cotto, cintron, margarito, clottey, floyd, and even zab judah ... he should stay at 154 and try and win a title there ... but he should avoid spinks who would box circles around him ... he is slow on his feet ... he cant deal with good boxers who move ... sort of like trinidad ... but never the less he is still a good fighter and he has potential to have an awesome career if they pick his fights right
