Will Going Back To the Amatures Help Taylor?

Ive seen the "PPV" version of the Countdown for Taylor-Pavlik 2. Again, not the HBO version but the one that the PPV company always shows. I always like that version also and maybe even more because its mostly all boxing stuff with alot of journalist on it.

Anyways, Im sure you all know by now that Taylor is going back to the trainer he had in the amatures. One thing that struck me on the show was when his trainer basically was saying that Taylor's problem is that he's turned into a guy just looking for KO's. Thats been his problem lately as a pro. He said that back in the amatures it was never about KO's. You tried to rack up points. He said that there going to go back to that style and not worry about KO's. The way I took it is that Taylor is going to go back to jabbing alot, not being as aggressive, and becoming more of a full time counter puncher.

I think there going to let Pavlik come at him while Taylor tries to circle and box more off the jab instead of coming out aggressive and trying to fight toe to toe. Do you think we will see a better or worst Taylor that way? It is possible that it could make the rematch a much more boring fight then everyone expects it to be. I wouldnt even be shocked if you saw Taylor use his speed, use his jab, box, and hold Pavlik every time he gets in close. Dont get me wrong, Taylor definatly wont go into ***** mode. He's too explosive for that and will be much too excited to not let his hands go but I do think we will see a more disciplined if not more cautious Taylor. I remember when he 1st started coming on HBO, all he did was jab. All they talked about was his jab and how it was one of the best in the business. He jabbed so much that I thought it was a good jab but he shot it way too much and didnt do enough of anything else. Since then its like he hardly ever shoots his jab. I find that very strange because Steward is supposed to be a jabbing trainer who likes his fighters to fight off the jab. Will it help Taylor to jab alot and be more cautious?

Sounds like you're say a in and out type of stratagy. Sounds good to me. But, Taylor could win with the same stratagy as last time. But what has to change is his mind set, he has to have built up a strong mind by now. Like say he gets a knock down either by Pavlik or he drops Pavlik, he needs to shrug it off and conintue to do his work. I think mentally he lost the last fight, i thought his body could still go more rounds but his state of mind failed him and imo now that he's been through that, and he accepts what really happened in his mind he will be alright and win. I belive Taylor will win.

If Taylor makes Pavlik extend himself to be effective, he'll have more opportunities to hit Pavlik before he can get his shots off.

Personally, I think the biggest difference will be Taylor going back with Ozelle Nelson. If you remember, Golata was a beast with Sam Colona before other trainers like Duva and Ray Arcel found difficulty getting the max out of him. Perhaps a reintroduction of where he came from is what he needed. Taylor became very "Hollywood" after beating Hopkins and it got to his head.

Taylor needs to use his superior athleticism and speed to stick his jab when Pavlik doesn't want to be hit. He needs to keep turning his man and put combos together. If he can do that, and I'm not sure he can, he can win this fight.
