never blame him, or thank him when they lose?
Why is it that boxers always thank god when they win, but........

Surely you could figure this out without having to make a topic on it?
Blaming god for negative events would likely piss him off, regardless of who that person's god is.
Thanking god is an affirmation of him "making" you lose, which is not something that a fighter wants to have repeated often.
That is probably why.Comment

Most don't generally associate God with defeat. However, it depends on the fighter and his perspective on the outcome of the fight, how he arrived there etc. Some may feel they did their best despite losing and feel the need to thank God because they know there was nothing more they could have done to change the outcome. Maybe they feel the loss was in God's will for their lives.Comment

Vernon Forrest thanked god after losing to Mayorga the first time, he said something along the lines of, "I just want to thank God for protecting me in the ring.....for protecting both of us fighters."
I remember that specifically because I thought to myself, "wtf you mean god protected you, you just got KTFO on live TV!"
But yeah, it just goes with the mentality. Everything from sports to music artists. Like you'll see on MTV, "I just want to thank god for blessing me this award for best song, 'I ****ed yo mama and put a cap in her ass', thanks to my manager, Big Fred, Deuce Loc from da blocc and DJ Kill Everybody, and finally, **** peace I'm out bitches!"
The best EVER was when Mike Tyson said, "My style is impetuous. My defense is impregnable, and I’m just ferocious. I want your heart. I want to eat his children. Praise be to Allah!”
Now that some **** you'll never here again in lifeLast edited by ИATAS; 02-04-2008, 05:30 PM.Comment
