  • Does Quintana Have A Shot?

I dont think Quintana is all that great but I wouldnt be shocked at all if he won this fight. Not because Williams sucks or anything because I do think he's a beast but I also think styles make fights.

I had a debate similar to this last night with some guys when I said that I could see Zab beating Williams. The reason is because he is a Southpaw. Williams has that freakish height, length, and work rate but what makes him great is that he combines all that with him being southpaw and it just throws guys off way too much. Thats why I think he has a good chance against Floyd. I dont care nothing about that other stuff. If it was just about his height & work rate then Floyd would still easily beat him but the trouble is that he combines that with being a Southpaw.

However, Southpaws also have problems with Southpaws because there not use to seeing them either. Thats why you have guys like Spinks killing everyone but then he runs up on a guy like Zab and none of his moves worked that well at all against Zab. I told the guy last night that I wouldnt even be shocked if Zab stopped him. He said that I was crazy because Zab doesnt have crazy power and Williams just went 12 rounds with Margarito. I pointed out to him that Spinks beat a super power puncher in Mayorga after going 12 rounds with him, beat a very strong guy in Karmazin while going 12 rounds with him, and went 12 rounds with a MW Taylor in a fight that alot of people think he won. None of them dropped him but theyve decapitated a ton of other guys. Taylor even dropped Pavlik. However, Spinks was dropped by Zab in the 1st fight and KO in the 2nd fight. Why? Because he has just as much problems with Southpaws as orthodox fighters do.

Williams killed Mitchell in like 4 rounds but in those 4 rounds he was still hit clean a ton by a shot Mitchell. I could see Zab giving him some real trouble. I put Quintana in that same boat since he's a Southpaw, has some solid D, and has some solid power. I wouldnt be shocked at all if Williams destroyed him but I also wouldnt be totally shocked if Quintana pulled the upset or atleast make him work very hard for the win. The only problem I have with Quintana is that I think this is his 1st fight since Cotto. Is that true? If so then I think thats a bad idea. They shouldve gave him some confidence back 1st

I definetly think Quintana can win and ive been saying it for a while now.

He's a live dog, and at 4-1 its something i'll probably put a small bet on. He has a flicking yet accurate jab, and he's a decent boxer puncher.

I saw his last fight on the PAVLIK-TAYLOR undercard, and he did look very impressive. The competition was weak, but he pounded this guy everytime he took a step close to Quintana.

If you guys recall, when Julio came toward Quintana it was onesided. Cotto went toward Quintana but he was way to strong. He broke Quintana down. Williams isnt nearly as strong as Cotto. I think Quintana can hold him off.

This could be an awsome technical boxing match, like Vazquez-Marquez 1 was, but with different styles.

I cant wait. its an INCREDIBLE night of boxing. with Berto-Trabant on the undercard, and PAVLIK-TAYLOR 2 countdown afterward

i agree i wouldn't be surprised if quintana pulls the upset.

they have just about the same experience only that williams won his world title on the first try.

I've seen stranger things happen, but I'd want at least 5-1 odds to tempt me to bet on Quintana. He is a pretty good fighter but I just don't see what he does well enough to beat Williams. It really seems like it's Williams' fight to lose.
