I agree, it should be removed from the judging guidelines. All 4 of the scoring categories could use major revamping IMO.
Ring Generalship:
Totally subjective. If the judge likes come-forward styles, he will put the fighter with less pop in his arsenal at a disadvantage. If he likes lateral movement and backwards punching, he risks bias towards a runner.
Clean, Effective punching:
There are many punches that are effective but not clean.
Effective Aggression:
What if one fighter is aggressive but not effective, while the other has neither?
Defense:
Not conducive to a fight sport. Obviously defense lowers the measure of the clean, effective punching or effective aggression of the other fighter. It should not be a category of its own.

a fight is fought in hills and valleys over 12 rnds , its as much science and skill as it is destroy and destruct .
