Peter McNeeley knocked out Frankie Hines in 0:06, and Jeremy Williams knocked out Arthur Weathers in 0:10.

Mike Tyson has the most flash KOs in professional boxing I think. He knocked out 9 fighters in less than one minute (Marvis Frazier 0:30, Robert Colay 0:37, Lou Savarese 0:38, Mike Johnson 0:39, Ricardo Spain 0:39, Clifford Etienne 0:49, Mark Young 0:50, Trent Singleton 0:52, Sterling Benjamin 0:54). In his record there are 23 KOs in round one!

David Tua has beaten a lot of fighters very quickly. John Ruiz (19sec.), Michael Moorer (30 sec.), Ron Humes (40 sec.), Eric Curry (43 sec.) and Obed Sullivan (51 sec.) in less than one minute and a total of 15 first round KOs.

Yogi, thanks for the interesting trivia. Any detailed info on the 5-second fight ? Who were the fighters and where did it happen?

I watched the Jermey Williams fight. I was all set to see my home town fighter on tuesday night fights. I had a six pack of beer by my feet and was all set. As soon as I opened my first beer and took a drink the fight was over.

Heavyweights carry a lot of KO power in their hands. What about the lighter weight divisions? from middleweight down there were a lot of KO punchers as well...

Jermey Williams was who I was rooting for and he got the KO. I was kinda bummed because I was looking forward to the fight for a week or so. Wish It would have been longer.

                    Glad to help.

Going into that fight it's probably not that suprising that it ended in the very first round, considering the records of the two fighters going into the fight...Ever Beleno entered the ring with a record of 30-1. Whereas, Alfredo Lugo's record going into it was 0-11 (according to boxrec, which may or may not be accurate). The fight was in 1995 and took place in the country of Colombia.

I don't know for sure exactly what happened in those five seconds, but my best guess would be that Beleno dropped Lugo with the first good punch of the fight, and instead of bothering with the ten count, the ref waved it off immediately (based on their records, I'm sure the ref was expecting a mismatch, as well, which may have made it an easy decision for him to stop it so quickly).

Sorry for not knowing the exact specifics of what happened in the fight (besides guesswork), but I do know it's acknowledged as being the shortest boxing match in recorded history.
