Pavlik's Manager Not Worried About Andy Lee

Speaking with BoxingScene.com, Cameron Dunkin, manager of WBC/WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik (32-0, 29KOs), is not too worried about the recent comments made by Emanuel Steward, manager and trainer of middleweight prospect Andy Lee (15-0, 12KOs). [details]

LOL Andy Lee isn't on Pavlik's radar. Even after the Taylor fight, Lee is at least a year away from challenging for a title

Pavlik will fight Duddy which is a showcase match. Fine. But who after that? Is he going to try to handpick opponents from the senior citizen circuit? That's where the "money" is. Why mention guys from 154? Pavlik won't even be a better fighter against smaller guys.

His challengers will be Lee and Abraham. If he doesn't fight one by early '09 it will be a sham.

I would like to see Pavlik fight Abraham first and try to unify the titles in the MW division. I think Andy would be better served if he fought somebody like Felix Sturm first and by sometime next year face Pavlik.

I am a huge Andy Lee fan. I actually believe he could beat Pavlik now. However, in no way should Pavlik fight him. After the Duddy KO he really needs to cash in a bit. Maybe he'll have a trilogy to complete with Taylor, but at the least he needs to add some real names that will draw money. I don't even mean Abraham as that isn't going to draw much in the US. I mean Winky Wright, Hopkins, Calzaghe, RJJ, etc for his next fight. Old guys he'll beat with a big paycheck. Then he should look to unify with Abraham, and theeeen he should start taking on challengers like Andy Lee. It would just be poor business to fight Lee immediately after Duddy. Unless, of course, he has some personal vendetta against Ireland.

I understand where you're coming from, but this is exactly the reason Manny has been so hyperbolic in promoting Lee. He'll be in ESPN next month, and I fully expect that he'll get a B.A.D. card before long due to Manny's connections to HBO. In other words, Lee will quickly become a name.

Pavlik will have a Jones fight if he wants it, and maybe Winky. But Calz and Hop will be at LHW, Pavlik needs to stay at 160 and there is no one coming up to that class who provides a payday

They should be 100% focused on the JT rematch. I'm a big Pavlik fan but everyone seems to think the rematch will be a cakewalk but it won't be. Remember how Steward said the first fight would only be competitive for a round and Taylor would knock him out in 2 well he was a uppercut away from looking like Nostradamus. Team Pavlik should forget about Lee until he beats someone of note, not these clubfighters.

Lee needs to step up even before thinking about pavlik.
